Trick-or-treating with my two young sons last night...
I came upon two girls apparently dressed as whores and one as a French maid. Not one of them was older than twelve.

Who supervised these costume selections?

:wtf:

3. A firefighter and a pumpkin, respectively
And the 11-month old pumpkin provided "siren" effects to accompany his firefighter brother.

4. It is yet another example of the sexualization of
the youth in our culture. Honestly, I can't think of anything more despicable. Kids need time to be kids. My advice to you, Orrex, is this: don't let your kids watch TV. It is the primary purveyor of everything that is sick and wrong about our culture for kids. The computer is fast approaching first place, so watch that source, too.

We don't watch TV, and my kids grew up without it, so I know that it is possible:-)

Keep an eye on that pumpkin siren

6. My sister had a friend who didn't let her sons watch TV at all.
When they would come over they would sit and watch our TV totally entranced. They wouldn't say a word or do anything, they would just sit on the floor looking at the television.

7. Those were MY kids when they'd go over to others' homes!

Well, not really, but it WAS the only time they saw network TV, and certainly cable. Now, we rented movies as a family, so it wasn't as if we didn't sit in front of the box. And I bought box sets of ST:V, ST:TNG, 24s, among others, and we'd watch those.

Come to think of it, that was ME-- when we visit the condo in FL once a year for spring break, I can't get enough of cable. I remember one year VH1 ran a marathon of "Behind the Music" and I was transfixed for hours! :headbang:

8. All they watch is Super Why, Word World, and Sesame Street
With a smattering of CSPAN when HouseofKewpie has it on during the day.

And the 11-month old doesn't pay attention to any of it unless Elmo is giving the day's homily.

Shopping with me recently, my 3.5 year old spotted Spongebob on the screen. He'd never seen it before, but he instantly went comatose, not blinking or looking away until I dragged him out of the store.

Although it's hardly sexual, it's really a wretched cartoon.

10. Eh... I don't blame TV or video games or anything
besides parents who refuse to be parents.

11. They're just imitating their older siblings
who put on some gotchies and cat ears and pretend it's a costume.
