3. The FX look nice
But that's basically just a matter of money. The cocky sense of humor evident in the trailer was what caught my interest.

"I better not see this on your MySpace page. No gang signs! Nah, just kiddin', throw 'em up."

4. Hang on a sec
Please bear in mind that I know nothing at all about comic books. I respect the hell out of the art and storytelling (having been schooled by several friends who are heavy-duty comic book collectors), but missed the boat personally.

(as it happens, I am equally lost regarding video games; Galaga is the best game ever in my humble o - one button, one knob, and that's all she wrote...I lost vids when Defender came along, which happened roughly 41 million years ago, so maybe I just suck when it comes to stuff like this)

...but I just watched that trailer. I saw an advertisement for a movie about some weapons dealer who builds himself a suit of flying armor, and then proceeds to kick Iraqi and/or Afghani ass in the *ahem* proper American "one-shot" fashion.

If that's what I saw, I vote "Ew."

If that's what I saw, we have here a movie intended to give frustrated pro-Bush-wars people a fantasy about kicking the Mideast asses that are kicking ours. In other words, I think I just saw a movie about "Wouldn't it be awesome if we could do this in Iraq and/or Afghanistan!"

Is that what I saw? Please, comics aficionados, school me if I'm wrong. I know zero about any back-story, etc.

6. In the original "Iron Man"
Tony Stark was a CEO who was on a junket to Vietnam. He has gone thru several personality incarnations. In essence he starts off as a selfish bitch. As the series progresses he becomes more gracious and less of a warmonger.

sort of like dr strange
