It's still early innings, but they're certainly enthused.

Fingers crossed!!!

1. Why wouldn't they be? They're massive favorites
At 3 times the payroll and the best record all year, it will be a complete embarrassment if they don't sweep.

2. They haven't had the consecutive wins that the Rockies had.
That said, I hope they do sweep.

It would make Beantown happy, and it would piss off those Yankees.

8. Oh please...You're really not pretending that Boston isn't heavily favored to win, are you?
Could you be that deluded by the fraud of the Red Sox underdog story? Come on. You're joking, right?

12. I dunno. The air is rarer on the Rockies home field, too. That affects stamina, certainly.
I think the Sox have the advantage, slightly , but mainly because they have the more cohesive team. It's more than simple skillsets.

I agree with the take of this article,

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/23/AR2007102302513.html?hpid=sec-sports

but at the same time, I take nothing for granted. I'm a Sox fan, after all. We understand anxiety, fear, relief, bitter disappointment and unbridled joy. We've had decades of practice!

13. Oh my fucking God
You really ARE that deluded!

Man, that Red Sox fandom is some powerful stuff. It even convinces Goliath that he might just be David.

Truly hilarious.

14. You know what? You're having fun being an ass. Didn't you read the cite I provided?
I said I agreed with that assessment. I'm not deluded, if you clicked on the link you'd realize how idiotic your assertion sounds. "Oh my fucking God" notwithstanding.

:eyes:

All I am saying is shit happens. Anyone who counts their chickens before they're hatched is a fool.

You know what's hilarious? Your trying so hard to be an obstreperous, obnoxious noodging jerk to me during game 1 of the World Series.

It isn't working, though. I'm enjoying the game too much. You don't get any awards for your attempts at derision tonight, sorry.

You have a nice night, now.

17. Goliath crushes David. Congratulations!
The only relevant information in that opinion piece you cited was that Vegas has the Sox as 2-1 favorites.

Red Sox fans underdog fetish is the real story, as always.

5. the fascist christian media company that comprises the Rockies ownership could spend more on payroll
There's never been a team in baseball with any payroll or any record where not playing a thousand in a seven game series was "an embarassment". This is baseball, not football.

I'm trying not to be because there's no point.

Seriously though, slow down on the Koolaid a little bit. This is BASEBALL... It's a GAME.

16. It's still only a game.
Yes, people are paid ridiculous amounts of money for it, but it is still a GAME. Nothing more.

10. Boston's a massive favorite, with a massive payroll
Let's not pretend otherwose. And while a sweep isn't necessarily expected (we call that hyperbole), nobody would be in the least bit surprised. Boston's been the best team in baseball all year long, and they trump Colorado in resources almost threefold. I know Red Sox fans like to pretend that they are David fighting a scrappy contest against Goliath, but that hasn't been true in years. The Red Sox are Goliath, with a payroll second only to the Yankees. There's no reason they shouldn't dominate.

18. Don't Argue With A Boston Fan
They believe that paying $51 million just to bid on Dice-K is evidence of how strong their farm system is.

19. OK, let's talk farm system
Dustin Pedroia, odds-on favorite to win Rookie of the Year in the AL
Jon Lester, solid southpaw pitcher who beat lymphatic cancer
Clay Bucholz, hard-throwing rightie who has already tossed a no-hitter
Jacoby Ellsbury, speedy game-changer with a slick glove

And that's just this year.
