Richardo Reviews: 'Michael Clayton', as seen at a Movie/Tavern Theater
Edited on Wed Oct-24-07 07:47 AM by Richardo
Movie: Overall very good. Casting is phenomonal and there is a lot going on with plot, characterizations and visuals. Sidney Pollack is one of the best 'corporate boss' characters since Jason Robards played Ben Bradlee in 'All The President's Men'.

Tavern: Having a beer, cheeseburger and salad, with table service, all while watching the movie: priceless. Well, not priceless, but fun and reasonably priced. Screen was huge and the sound excellent. The auditorium only seats 147. It was all but deserted on a weeknight.

This was our first time trying one of these places (they're springing up all over Houston) and we'll definitely go back.

1. Wow, they have first-run movies at your beer theaters?
Movies don't usually hit our beer theaters until they're about to go to dvd.

3. Yeah, I hope this place lasts.
It just opened last week as a eight-screen multiplex. There were only three of us in the 'Michael Clayton' showing, and I must have seen at LEAST 20 employees there - servers, ticket takers, etc. Seems labor-intensive unless they get big crowds on the weekends.

Very GQ and brooding.

Incidentally, I thought his acting was great also.

6. I know this is what you *really* wanted, Bunny...
...not my incessant prattling.

Note the brooding:

10. It was fun! I don't know what it would be like if the theater was full
That could be pretty distracting. But still, I'd recommend it if they ever build one in Switzerland. :hi:

14. Willowbrook: just north of FM 1960 on Hwy 249.
That's quite a drive from Sugarland. They're called 'Movie Tavern' theaters - there may be one on your side of town.

17. Thanks! You're right -- I'm never near that area of town.
Enjoying our cool weather? My cats are having a blast running around the yard like frisky kittens.

Or is there a new chain popping up there?

15. Not sure if it's a chain, but it looks like it.
It's in a decommissioned Home Depot along with an arcade called 'ITZ'.

20. A lovely cocktail called "The Blue Thing", recommended to me
by a friend after her evening at the Movie Tavern drinking Blue Things,
and she couldn't remember what the movie was.

:)
