Friday Night Dinner Thread... Mmmmmm The theme is GARLIC
Me? I am making corn chowder, putting those brats on the grill and having some garlic bread. It smells like heaven here. I use lots of garlic in the chowdah'

And you?

6. Have you ever had chicken with 40 cloves of garlic?
Poulet à quarante gousses d'ail as it's called in Provence. It sounds like it would be overpowering, but it's not. It has a good garlic flavor, but no strong aftertaste or bad breath. It's delicious.

8. I cut up and roasted some potatos with thyme and.....garlic!
Sliced some jalpeño-cheddar bread, dipped one side in egg,
and fried it topped with cheese. The egg got a bit of salt,
pepper, and garlic.

I love garlic- it's just the BEST. My spice cupboard has about
40 of the little 1.5 oz bottles and tins of various spices, and one
jumbo 1 1/2 pound jug of garlic powder.

14. In the last few months, I've gotten into using "elephant garlic".
The taste is definitely a litle different, but still similar enough
to work as a direct substitute...

But mostly, it's a REAL good excuse to use MORE GARLIC!

A single clove is the size of half a golf ball; and
once I peel it, I feel that I have a MORAL OBLIGATION
to use the whole thing, y'know?

I was raised to believe that it's a SIN to waste food.
If that means I have to TRIPLE the garlic in a given recipe,
then that's what I have to do!
(because I'm just ALL about "not sinning", donchaknow!)

15. Well, I WAS debating between having chicken again
with veggies and mashed potatos, or doing pasta with lots of garlic in it and garlic bread... hmm... wonder which one I'll choose now. :)
