My boss just came in to my office, "We bought you a book!"
"If Democrats had any brains, they'd be Republicans" by Ann Coulter.

Ye Gods.

I said, "COME ON. You're not conservative enough to like HER are you?"

He said, "She's a good person!"

I declined to respond. I don't know if I truly can handle that sort of stuff forever.

1. Who dosed your coffee?
Honestly, this seems more like a bad acid trip or Dilbert meets Tom Tomorrow than real life.

2. They pay EXCEPTIONALLY WELL...
Best health insurance package in 10 years (and it's FREE with a charged up HSA).

They respect my BUSINESS decisions and leave me to take care of things on my own.

I guess I can put up with being their "Token Liberal." I need the job and I'm too old to get another one this good.

Ah well. Nothing is ever perfect.

15. A little juvenile taunting is a small price to pay
for all that, I suppose.

Let them have their small-minded fun. I am confident that you can shut them down when necessary.

Why the HELL would your BOSS give you a political book anyway?

And no - Ann Coulter is NOT a "good person" - she's an awful excuse for a human being. What a hatefilled nasty self-righteous bigot!

9. Naw.
I look at them and pity them their hypocrisy. They claim to be Catholic HyperChristians, yet they're Bushites and Coulteroids, claiming that Coulter and Limbaugh are just being taken out of context.

I let them have their fun, then I post here for an hour to make up for it!

8. Cut the book into 4-inch wide strips
tape them together into maybe 5 or 6 foot long strips, make a few of these, then sneak them into the bathroom stalls and wrap them around the existing toilet paper rolls. Make sure you don't cut off the headers on the page with the "author's" name on them... Do it at a time AFTER the cleaning crew has been in...

25. It's kind of fun to watch his personal life self-destruct.
His 20 year old daughter...well, let's just say "trollop" is a "nice" way of putting it. Nasty, too.

His 17 year old son is a completely spoiled brat with a "my dad's the BOSS" attitude.

His wife is a domineering chain-smoking woman about 5' nothing who looks like she escaped from an anorexia ward.

His cousin is the financial officer, smokes real Cubanos yet has a real autographed picture of Bush on the wall. CHEAP.

His brother, while a little more liberal, likes to throw random rejected parts into shipments just to see if they pass.

His other cousin is the pick of the litter, but has a temper that makes mine look mild.

So I guess I can take a little ribbing. Like I said, the job's not bad and the bennies are great.

26. You should 'review' it
like diehard Cubs fan Mike Royko reviewed Keith Hernandez's diary of the Mets' 1986 world championship season:

I will begin my review by saying that this is a very solid book. The moment I opened the package and saw what it was about, I threw it against my office wall as hard as I could.

Then I slammed it to the floor and jumped up and down on it. I beat on it with a chair for several minutes until I slumped onto my couch, emotionally and physically spent. Although slightly scuffed, the book was still intact.

It is also a book that can cause excitement. I dropped it on the desk of a friend who has had weekend season tickets at Wrigley Field for the past 10 years. It immediately stirred him to emotional heights. He shouted:

"Why are you showing me that piece of (deleted)? I say (deleted) Hernandez and (deleted) the Mets and (deleted) the whole (deleted) city of New York. And (deleted) you, too."

Then he flung it against a wall and gave it a kick. It still remained intact. I told you it was a solid book.

32. I would say "I'm reluctant to accept this work of literature by an anti-Semite. Boss, I..."
"...appreciate that you're thinking of me. But Miss Coulter's recent public admission of anti-Semitism (i.e. Jews need to be "Perfected") troubles me. While I think it's absolutely normal for scholars and the curiuos to read, for instance, Mein Kampf to understand, but not accept, Hitler's ideas, I find it difficult to raise Miss Coulter to the level of historical importance to consider her worthy of such an examination at this time."

BONUS:
"If, however, her commentary expands into violent anti-Semitic acts I just may take you up on the offer to have something to read between jury deliberation and verdict."

If you can stand being around these morons all day, you are made of sturdier stuff than me. I went to work part-time in a small office a couple of years ago and was surrounded by the idiot fringe there, too. They listened to Rush in the morning and Hannity in the afternoon. It was awful. I quit after a few months.

Good luck!!
