Help me name a dog.
My neighbor volunteers with animal control adoptions and she called me today saying someone had turned in a purebred 10-month-old Boston Terrier. I had had one growing up and loved it and had mentioned to her in the past that I would like to have another one but was always wary of breeders, etc. and never had gotten one. So, knowing this would go in a heartbeat I beat a path down there and adopted this little skinny thing that is all mouth (physically, not barking). I will get him later after he is spayed.

So what should I name him? His name now is Buster, which is okay and I might keep. Any other ideas? This is going to be quite a change around here with my lazy dog Daisy and even lazier and grumpier cat.

1. Two rules
It should be two syllables.
It should rhyme with why.
Trust me.

11. I know it's better to be silent and thought a fool
than to open your mouth and remove all doubt, but what name is that?? I thought maybe it was taterboy but that has more than two syllables so I am lost.

16. Just guidlines for naming a dog
When you talk it it you'll find it easier if it has two syllables and it's name ends in a Y sound. You could name it something lofty like Augustus but you'll find yourself calling it Auggie.

Buster is cute, too, though.

6. Well, he's 10 months old. If he already comes when you call "Buster!" you'd best keep it that way.
Otherwise he won't know what the hell is going on or who he is, and he'll experience an identity crisis. And then you'll have to pay out thousands of dollars in pet psychiatry bills. :D

BTW, spaying is for females, neutering for males.

Do you have a picture of Buster? Boston Terriers are so cute!

7. I love these dogs!!
Had one years ago, her registered name was
long and crazy so we just called her faddie.

Watch her a few days to get to know his personality
some before deciding absolutely on a name choice.
Pick one that 'fits'.

My name suggestion is: Spanky

13. Lily. Guess there are no male flower names.
Lily was named that because she was lily white (like the flour) and my daughter named the dog so the flower names were not a tradition.

15. I like it too. I also thought about Sparky,
like the South Park dog. Also thought about Bosco or Boomer. I had a great grandfather named Rondo - maybe that. My grandfather was Walter - don't think I could do that to him.

10. Buster is a good name for any dog (dogs hear the "S" sound well)
Edited on Sat Oct-06-07 02:25 PM by AZDemDist6
and it's a classic name for a boston terrier, thanks to "Buster Brown and his dog Tige"

Buster Brown, his sister Mary Jane, and his dog Tige, a Boston Terrier, were well known to the American public in the early 20th century. Tige is thought to be the first talking pet to appear in American comics, and, like that of many of his successors, his speech goes unnoticed by adults.

17. I like one syllable names....
Edited on Sat Oct-06-07 03:51 PM by Scout
two syllables if you really can't come up with any good one syllable ones.

We adopted a dog from the shelter and changed his name ... we didn't want him to have any associations with the shelter. He seems fine ... he was named Nevada, now he is Ned.

edit: typos

19. I've always like "Dammit." It really freaks the neighbors out when you're in the yard calling,
"Here, Dammit." "Sit, Dammit." "You're a good dog, Dammit."
