We send away for three month scripts at a time for our kids asthma meds. Instead of Zyrtek D, they gave him Zyprexa.
Zyrtek D is like claritin.
Zyprexa is an anti-psychotic.
My son was packing to go to his Dads, and needed the new meds. I almost packed it up for him to take with him for the next week. His father wouldn't have known the name of the med, (esp. being so close in name)..
Very scary and dangerous situation ALMOST occurred. Thank God I read every single name, every time I give out a medication (even when it's given each day) and I NEVER go by word recognition, but read the word of the medication through. I caught it by READING and then checking the pills inside against what they are supposed to look like.
Just thought I'd give everyone a friendly reminder. Read the word through, and check the pills themselves are what they should be.
