Two of the kittens who were born in our storage barn
Edited on Sun Sep-16-07 05:50 PM by Liberalynn
followed their mother across the road this morning and they are still running through the corn field over there. The mother came home and left them there. A neighbor called and said she saw them so I went over and tried to catch them but they are semi wild and they kept dodging me and I am not as young and fast as I used to be and couldn't catch them. I gave up after an hour. I tried luring them over to me with food and had a crate ready but no luck.

I feel bad and am afraid they are going to get hit, but I don't have a Have A Heart trap and we are already starting to loose light and I don't want to get lost in the cornfield.

My sister said I shouldn't feel guilty because I tried to bring them back, but I still feel bad and like I shouldn't have given up trying to catch them. I just hope nothing happens to them, and the mother will go bring them back across eventually. Her lazy butt is just laying in the barn curled up with the one kitten who didn't follow her off this morning.

I was going to take her over in the crate to lure them but she freaked out when I tried to put her in, wriggled out of my hold, and then avoided me from then on.

So send some good vibes that they make their way home safe on their own.

They are about nine weeks old.

1. You did what you could
and a  for the efforts. If they are semi-ferile, they will do what they will do. I have had 2 such kitties adopt me (best kind of cats EVER). No guilty feelings necessary...you are obviously a kind soul. They will be just fine.

 They are such cutties and I am hoping they will come home soon, and I agree semi-ferals can be really wonderful cats.
