It's awful. I just learned she's in the hospital, again. What a struggle.

1. I googled it...
Does not sound like fun at all.
Hope your friend gets better soon.

2. Thanks.
It's a terrible disease. Most of her docs hear have never dealt with it before--some had never heard of it. They're taking their orders from people at Mayo's. And even they admit they're kind of making it up as they go along.

Tonight, she's having bad pain.

3. I'm in some pain myself, it's keeping me awake.
If it isn't one thing, it's another.

Several months ago, I had surgery to correct an ulcer, now it turns out I have a hernia.
I got gas tonight, and it smarts.

Next couple weeks I'll be meeting with the Doc who took care of my ulcer, to see if I'll need to get sliced and diced again.

4. Oh, sorry. I hope you don't have to go under the knife again.
I'm about to turn in, but I'll be thinking of you. Hope you feel better soon

5. Well, at least her personal docs are smart enough to follow that "if you can't help your patient...

...find someone who can" adage. Mayo docs/staff are an excellent resouce if you can manage to access them. They helped my dad, an FP, keep my grandfather's doctors--negligent whores--in line while my grandfather was dying of a type 3 mesothelial lung tumor, the rarest and least treatable of its kind. My dad and grandfather's docs were a tad out of their depth there, and Mayo staff helped a lot.

7. Yeah, it takes a wies person to know what one doesn't know
I've been impressed with this about her docs. I've known a few over the years whose egos would not have freed them up to do this.

Sorry about your grandfather. Mesotheliomae are terrible things.

10. It takes a wise person to spell "wise" correctly. Apparently. nt
