1. I don't wish anything bad on her or anything...
I just think she never really should have been famous in the first place. :P

6. Bingo.
That's the best way anyone has stated it yet.

3. I'd settle for
the disappearance of all the threads about her.

For now.

7. Me too.
I can't believe people here can still support her after she endorsed Bush. I'd love it if the threads were all merged, so I wouldn't have such a hard time hiding them all.

5. She's obviously down. I wish people wouldn't kick folks when they're down.
The truth is, she probably _would_ disappear if there weren't so many people getting a real kick out of watching her public meltdown. If she were mentally and physically healthy and gave Sunday night's train wreck of a performance, I'd say she opened herself up to criticism. But she obviously isn't rollin' with all four wheels right now, so I wonder how ethical it is to hold her to the same entertainment standards we did four or five years ago. More important, I wonder how ethical it was for MTV to give an unhealthy person a platform for self-embarrassment at the VMAs; MTV execs had seen her rehearsing all week and they could have stopped that train wreck before it ever happened. But I guess they thought it'd make for good television.

Yep, I'm probably gonna get blasted for the above, so I'll just add: I'm no fan of Britney Spears and I still recall her gum-smacking endorsement of Bush a few years ago. I still don't wish her any misfortune.

9. Well, I understand you have your opinion and I respect that.
I just wish she had never been famous to begin with. I don't think that is wishing her misfortune, is it?

12. While the media points cameras at her body parts being groped,
she won't be going anywhere. :(

It does make the media almost as guilty as she is for being such a crude wretch.

13. She is way down on my list
There are many more people I would rather see go away than some pop singer. Honestly, Spears is not a no-talent, she can sing and she is a good performer. Not my cup of tea, but she isn't a hack and if anyone actually thinks she is, then they are just being silly.

She is the least of my concerns right now.

14. I doubt anyone is going to shell out big bucks for another ...
appearance like her MTV fiasco. She may be going away a lot sooner than you think.

15. She's like your awful alcoholic relative
That always shows up and makes a spectacle of herself at family gatherings ("Hey, y'all! Watch this!"). You feel embarrassed for the poor thing, but wish she would either self-destruct in private or give in and get some competent psychiatric help.

I couldn't watch more than a few seconds of her MTV awards performance. It was too painful: what were her agents/handlers thinking, allowing her on stage in that shape (and I don't refer to her physique)?

17. the poor girl has been
nothing but a pretty face/body since she's been old enough to walk practically.

She doesn't KNOW anything else.

I feel very very sorry for her. I wish she'd take her money and go into seclusion and get some serious mental health treatment - and REPROGRAMMING.

If her family gives a shit about HER at all (and not her $$) - then they'll act on that.

Get her OUT of the public eye. Move her to some remote well-guarded place - and have a psych/therapist on retainer.

Teach her how to be a real person instead of a "Barbie Doll" that exists solely for the public's amusement.

19. I would like her to be happy
That appears to be an ever-more remote possibility, if the news accounts are to be believed.

I hope she finds some stability, health, happiness and a way to help others.

20. I wish she'd disappear from the Lounge
I know, I know, "hide thread" but it's all I can do to keep up with them. I actually do feel sorry for the girl in a way but more than anything else, I'm just sick of hearing about her.
