Everyone except my mom tried to force me to be right handed when I was a kid. Mom refused to listen and even bought me left handed scissors which were hard to find in the 1970's.

8. We've got quite a few lefties in the family

My brother, his wife, their sons, me, mostly on my dad's side. When he was in school, the nuns used to slap his left hand if he tried to see it to write. Thank goodness that approach has largely left the educationa field. Now we can learn to screw up as a lefty with out worrying about it!

Lefties aren't really lefties, though; since many things are made for right handed people, lefties have had to cope with such prejudices, and for the most part, it's to our advantage. We learn at an early ages to use both hands in the same ways and different, in order to simply not look like a "freak".

I wouldn't have it any other way We can do more and have double the talents of the righties--it works out well!

My mom swears up and down that she didn't try to switch me!

I think I just wanted to be like all my little friends, and made the switch myself...

the persitance of right-handed scissors, butter knives, moustache mugs, and other such things. There was a lefty catalogue years ago, but the stuff was shoddy and far too expensive for a joke.

Never was forced to be a righty because my father eas a lefty forced to write with hisd right hand and vowed that would never happen to his kids.
