I will be holding a tea party to protest the Iraq War next Saturday
It has come to my attention that those who choose to protest should behave politely and be civil at all times. In light of this, I have decided to hold a formal tea party at the corner of Highway 9 and North Santa Cruz Avenue in Los Gatos starting at 2:00 next Saturday afternoon.

Long white gloves are required, no elbows on the table and please no chewing with your mouths open.

Thank you.

2. Tea hats are de rigeur
One would have thought that was obvious but alas! Manners have fallen off so these days.

7. Not at all.
I always insist on wearing my tea hat, but last week, I went to a tea given by one in the younger generation, and I was the ONLY ONE wearing a hat! I was aghast!

4. One must do one's duty
In a tasteful and unobtrusive way, of course.

5. I'll make tea sandwiches.
I'll have to polish up the silver trays and starch the lace doilies or the presentation just wouldn't be right. Everyone knows that tea sandwiches aren't tea sandwiches unless they're properly presented. They just wouldn't taste the same if served in supermarket clamshell packs after all.

6. That would be lovely
And of course, presentation is everything. I shall be bringing my great-aunt Mildred's formal tea service as well as my best silver. I wonder if I should carry my parasol? I wouldn't want to be incorrect. :dilemma:

11. You realize I will have to insist on a tie on the young man
It would never do to have a butler with an open collar. :wow:

A scheduling faux pas! Dear me. Well, do enjoy the festivities and bravo on choosing such a tasteful and mannered cause. :applause:
