Help out this quinquagenarian and tell me how to get a ringtone on my phone
Edited on Thu Sep-06-07 11:33 PM by darkstar
I've tried. Text "59778" to 1 787 777-5555. I know how to text n' shit like the kids. But I never get shit when I've tried to do this. I don't get billed, but I don't ever get nuttin' either.

How to do this? I've hidden my shame for too long.

2. What the hell is that?
Seriously, I'm pretty sure I've never heard of that term. What does it mean? Something I need in order to make the exchange go right? I can get pics, for example, from my wife. But we're on the same account. Is BREW a service, and audio player, or what?

Thanks in advance.

7. hey...nothing like falling behind the times to make you feel old
Not you, of course. That BREW stuff didn't help. Wow. No I'm out of touch on 2 fronts. At least my "Increase Your Vocabulary While You Sleep" 8-tracks are working.

9. heheh. Actually, I've never tried to change the ringtone on mine.
I never use it. I use Skype for my infrequent telephone calls. I have one of those prepaid things in case anyone ever needs to call me, but it never gets used.

4. I don't even know how to tell you what "BREW" is, but
Edited on Thu Sep-06-07 11:47 PM by mycritters2
here's how I download ringtones, weather reports, etc.

I have a Nokia phone--just the free one that came with my account. The opening screen has the word "BREW" in the right hand corner. I click on that, and get a screen that says BREW and "minibrowser" I select BREW. Then there's a screen with a couple of icons. I select the "shopping cart" icon. Then I get a screen that says "catalog" and "search". I select "catalog". Then I get a screen that says "What's hot", "ringtones", "fun and games", "Information", "Wallpaper and Photos", and "Entertainment". Obviously, I click on "ringtones". Then you get selections to choose from--different types of music, etc. Just keep searching until you find what you want, click on that, and *voila* new ringtone.

I'm not very techy, so I hope this makes sense.

Of course, if you don't have this "BREW" thing, I have no idea. Good luck :hi:

6. Hey...thanks for the explanation...
I really appreciate it. I have an aspect of that down. I think. My Cingular account has a media mall thing. But it doesn't have the songs I want.

Say I get a CD. Inside is an insert that says "For Grateful Dead ringtones, text xxxxxx for song A, xxxxx for song B, etc to xxxxxxxxxxxxx."

That's where I'm at.

Thanks again.

8. Sorry, I probably can't help with that.
I have this funny little local cellular company. When I see things like that, I know it won't work with my phone. Otoh, we have good coverage, because the company has a contract with Alltel, which is EVERYWHERE for some reason. So, it's not all bad. But there are some things we can't do.

So, I wasted your time. Sorry. But at least you know what BREW stands for....which is not exactly the same thing as knowing what it is.

Have a good night. And good luck :hi:
