I come to DU every day and sometimes you guys are the only bright spot in my day. I'm so grateful to be able to come here and see that I'm not alone in my beliefs and my desire to make a change, however small, in the world. You can't know how much that means to me. I work at home and live in the middle of a sea of red. It may be sad or pathetic but DU is my office-mate, my lunchtime companion and sometimes my main social interaction during a day.

I want to thank you all for being here and thank you for all the things you share, the encouragement you are always willing to give and the hugs I can receive just for asking.

In that DU is really important to me, it's important for me to feel like a financially contributing member of this community. As I've mentioned ad nauseum I'm having a particularly awful period of time financially right now and I debated whether I could afford to buy my star back. I had thought that the minimum was $35 for a year and I discovered that it's not, there is an option to pledge "other" on the donation page. Because DU is so important to me and, I think, to most of you, I want to encourage everyone to donate, even if it's not $35, even if it's just a little, perhaps even just the cost of going out for lunch and eating a sandwich at your desk instead. I need DU, you probably need DU, the US absolutely needs DU and us working together, exchanging ideas and fighting for a brighter more progressive future.

I apologize for my mushy sentimentality. You guys are the best. I believe that together we can all make change happen. :grouphug:
