18. Make sure you go the next few years because it may not last.
Each year the population grows by up to 20% from what I'm told. The founder, Larry Harvey believes that there may only be a few years left of it because the area can't sustain the event. This year there were waaaaaaay too many people and a lot yahoo assholes who felt the need to throw their trash around - a real downer if you ask me.

Because the event may end, I'll be going until it's shut down. The art is what keeps me going back.

BTW, next years theme will be "The American Dream" - it should be interesting seeing some of the things people come up with for that. Personally, I think it's kind of stupid idea myself, especially when the organizers demand that people "keep their politics out of it" - yeah right! :eyes:

16. There's always a temple there as well...
it's for the memory of lost loved ones. This year I forgot to make a memorial for my uncle that died this passed Flag Day. Next year I will. I also plan on bringing the remains of my beloved cats to the temple, I'll always know where they are.

Here's video of the Temple burn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hIPiUP__E0

9. Great thanks for sharing these!! I liked your choice of backround music, too.
who did that first song, btw? I liked that one a lot.

I have some friends who were also there, but I have yet to hear their stories. One of them borrowed my bike and decorated it with cool-o flashing LED lights that glowed in the nighttime.

I'm glad The Man rose again.

:hi:

11. The first song was "Feeling Good" by the late great Nina Simone.
:-)

I was going to use music by Kraftwerk but I'm so sick of hearing electronic music that I'd use Ms. Simone and Peggy Lee instead.

My bike was all done up in fun fir and el-wire too. It was great for finding it in the dark. I also got a lot of positive feed back for my el-wire Safari hat! :-)

14. Oh, THAT was Nina Simone, eh? I thought it was a man! LOL.
I've heard of her, of course, but I don't think I'd ever actually heard her voice before. Cool.
