What do you with an overload of pent-up aggression and stress?
Due to a number of issues which, in singular occurance would be tolerable, but combined are driving me INSANE, I am so pissed off and wound up that I feel physically sick.

I tried exercising to vent a bit, but that seemed to make it worse. I tried bathing, breathing slowly, and relaxing, and I can't (relax, that is.)

What do you do to calm down, when you're wound up so tight you can't seem to mellow out?

5. I'm certain that there are certain
medicinal options that would be helpful.
Unfortunately, y'know, they're illegal or difficult to obtain.

Bleh.

:P

6. Not where I live!
Still illegal, unfortunately. But not at all difficult to obtain. ;)

Alas, I'm at work. So medicinal options really aren't on the table, so to speak.

It was AWFUL!
I'd actually never had one before. I never will again!

8. Take a pillow and beat the crap out of the bed.
I kid you not. Sometimes letting the aggression and stress out in an aggressive way is the ONLY way to get rid of it. However, I don't want to actually cause damage; thus, the pillow.

15. THAT is near what I feel like doing.
I'm infamous among my irl friends for breaking inanimate objects around the house during "tantrums." I've stopped doing it for the most part, since it doesn't exactly seem like behavior consistent with setting a good example for the sprouts.

Pillow abuse sounds a little safer!

20. I might suggest using a pillow with stuffing other than feathers.
If the cover tears or bursts, feathers are more likely to go everywhere as opposed to some other stuffing materials. Cleaning up loose fiberfill would be easier than feathers.

10. I shop.
I also go for long long drives to nowhere. Sometimes I'll window shop but usually I drive through a D & D for an iced coffee to enjoy on the ride back.

If my boy toy were around  I'd have a more interesting answer for you.

24. The problem is I'm running out of places to put everything.
Now I need to do something more interesting that just going out for a drive.

I've got great shoes (they make my legs look awesome), cute little dresses and  no place to wear 'em some of the things still have the tags.

26. Ohhh! I had fun last week....
Edited on Tue Aug-28-07 02:53 PM by LaraMN
My parents gave me a back-to-school present: some money to go shopping for new clothes, and babysitting favors so I didn't have to bring the kids!

I bought a new pair of jeans, some clingy pin-striped flare pants, a really cute dress, and three or four shirts, for about a hundred dollars!

I was NOT crabby that day!

Too bad we can't go out in our cute dresses and shoes, together!

22. I clean maniacally sometimes, when I'm pissed off.
I did just scrape a bunch of wallpaper and rip out baseboard trim. I ran out of stuff to do, though. I have to wait until my husband gets home and takes out the toilet, so I can paint and work on flooring.

It does often provide a bit of a mental purge.

18. Been there alot in the last year..
unfortunately for my cats, I find it helps to pick one up and squeeze the stuffing out of them (well not really) especially if they are purring.
Otherwise I have a most unfortunate tendency to throw things

23. I've never been a thrower, more of a kicker.
Kicked a dent in the old dishwasher door, kicked a hole in the bedroom door, kicked a hole in the closet door.
I always end up regretting it, so I try not to kick things anymore.

31. LOL!
When I was a teenager I put a hole in the wall at my mothers house by slamming open a door (the doorknob mashed the way). I see someone suggested a pillow but you know what else works. Get a foam/nerf bat. Turn on the TV and when you see Chimpy's face start swinging. Boy does that feel good...:)

Hell, just pound on a table with your hands until they're so numb that you can't feel them when you type, like I just did.

Plus, you get to hit something and you won't get arrested.

36. writing is about the only thing that works for me
it's like surgery, cause it gets it out of my body. Not structured writing, but free association with no editing...just write, write, write for as long as I need to, as many times as I need to. I have to force myself to do it most of the time but it makes me feel better.
