Yes, I knew he would ridicule the invitation because after all he is a gay boy in the closet masquerading as a married repug that condemns all gay people, but in real life lots of people know he's gay, so we have to invite him. Ugh. Of course he never deigns to respond, because, wow, we'd know he was actually gay if he did. I feel sorry for his wife. Hopefully she knew, but given that he's from Idaho, no telling.

Like right now, Arlen Specter is on a boondoggle in Poland that YOU and ME are paying for, but has no tangible interest to the American taxpayer. In fact, the State guys can't come up with a reasonable interest to plug for him about why he's there, except they (him and his wife) wanted a free vacation. I got a millon insider stories. But who is really interested? LOL!

4. No, sorry
He's such a latent homo that he would never crash on the couch of a DU'er. I'm serious -- next to the definition of latent homo in the dictionary there should seriously be a pic of Larry Craig. This is NOT news to the "gay community." What's amazing is how DC allowed him to be so closeted for so long.

5. I was not aware that Larry Craig is a closeted gay man.
Why were you forced to invite him to a party?

And what does being from Idaho have to do with being closeted?

8. It was a gathering for gay politicos
And everyone in the Pacific NW knows that Larry Craig is gay. Some folks got it in their heads that we had to invite him because of that. Nothing about Idaho has to do with being closeted unless you're from Idaho, in which case you'd not be caught dead being out of the closet. :)

Myself, I thought it was silly to invite him. He has always been extremely anti-gay in his representation. I guess the rational was that inviting him might make him think a bit. But that, to me, was assuming he had a conscience, which of course he does not.

9. I ask because, you see, I live in Idaho.
And I still never heard anything about Larry Craig.

I have several friends who are very open and out, so not every gay person in Idaho is closeted.

14. I'm so glad other idahoans aren't closeted
But ask your gay friends. I am sure they all know people that are. And where have you been when it comes to Craig? Jeez, I thought that was common knowledge in the PAC west gay community. Sure wasn't news to me.

On a more personal note, I am almost 50 and spent a great deal of my life denying my sexuality because it wasn't accepted by society. I was 35 before I had the courage to be who I am. And some of that was on account of me moving to an area where it was more accepted. My heart goes out to folks where they feel inhibited from talking about their partner, who they love, etc. Most people take that for granted, but it's not so easy for gay folks in some parts of the country -- certainly not for me when I lived in the south.

15. It might be common knowledge in the PAC West gay community....
but I'm not part of that community. :D

I've lived here in Idaho for 7 years, and really, I try to avoid anything having anything to do with either Craig or Crapo. They sure as hell don't represent me.

17. Of course not
You DU'ers that live in red states deserve extra love and support. It's not easy being Dem in a red state. I know, I lived in OH, KY, and TN before moving to my beloved WA.

Blessed are the red state DU'ers, for they will inherit the earth. XO

16. Really?
Not easy being gay in Idaho. If you don't understand that it might be becuase you aren't gay. On the other hand, maybe the folks I know from there have just had unique bad experiences. There is no red state I know of that it is easy to be open in if you are gay.

12. Chris Shays
But that's just speculation on my part. You hear a lot of stuff, but who knows if it's true until you meet them in person? Then the gaydar kicks in. I definitely knew Mark Foley was gay after meeting him. There are others I have heard about but not met. I'd hate to say based on pure rumor.
