Poll question: Fun Poll. How often did you use the word "gaffe" before the media
started overusing it in terms of Democratic candidates for the Presidency?

ex. Candidate X's major gaffe on Friday while tying his shoes could cost him a few key states, while gaffes committed by Candidate Y seem not to affect his campaign at all.

Anyone else as sick as I am of seeing this word in connection with all of our candidates? Especially since the last time I heard it was on an 8th grade spelling test. :hi:

1. Amazing, isn't it?
A particular word gets used, becomes all the rage, and then fades...

Do you remember Al Haig? Once, in Doonsebury as I recall, Gary T. had Haig say "I'll scenario them rosily" or some such.

And how long has it been since "paradigm" was in vogue?

2. A long time...It really bothered me when the word "coalition" started
being bandied about. Now it's "coalition" this and "coalition" that. And now this gaffe term. I was just reading it in some of the posts when it occurred to me. :hi:

5. we use gaffe tape in the theatre at school
although technically it's gaffer's tape, and it's not a synonym for mistake (although my teacher has been known to tape my mouth shut with it).
