Do you ever feel...
insecure?

I mean I'm 46 fucking years old!

Yet sometimes I feel like a 15 year old in terms of feeling insecure.

I don't like this about myself. I've worked to change it over the years and yet, there is a core issue in there that haunts me and it really pisses me off that it does. I get to feeling insecure about myself sometimes and it makes me a little crazy.

Anyone else like that?

16. Ahhh, Ft. Smith
Home of funny vote counting in the '74 Congressional race, when Bill Clinton tried to oust long-term Congressman John Paul Hammerschmidt.

Clinton was in the lead until they got to the Ft. Smith votes. Then, as if by magic, Ft. Smith seemed to get a whole lot of new, Republican voters all of a sudden. And John Paul was able to squeak by that upstart Bill by the narrowest of margins.

As for escaping, yeah, that's pretty much what I did. :hi:

22. According to sports interviews on 40/29,
the Hawgs are lookin' to be winnin' at least 10 games this year, and maybe more.

It was too bad about the Whatever Bowl earlier this year. I got a bad feeling about it when the Hawgs ran the ball down to the Wisconsin 9 on the first play of the game, and couldn't score from there.

is to be human.

Don't beat yourself up over it...I'm older than you, and I feel insecure all the time.

It's weird...sometimes I feel very confident and in control, and sometimes I feel like everything I do is wrong.

It is just part of the human experience my friend.

31. "We are always the same age inside." - Gertrude Stein
I remember hearing one of my university professors say that when he looked in the mirror, he still saw the same 17-year-old boy he had once been. I think that comment had less to do with his appearance (though he did have a youthful appearance) than it did his inner life.

I'm now about the same age as that professor was (late 40s), and I think I understood what he meant.

I suspect we all thought we were going to feel more authoritative, more in control as we grew older. The reality is that we're all making this up as we go along and take all our strengths and weaknesses. Look around at a party or a bar and see the uncertainty and awkwardness in people's stances.

We're all in this together. Thanks for checking in and laying out the issue the way you did. :hi:

do you even have to ask?

My insecurities have held me back countless times during my life. It pisses me off. I'm trying so hard to get over it. I'm going back to college in two weeks. I'm scared to death. What if I'm not good enough? What if I fail? Who am I fooling? Blah, blah, blah.

It's never ending.

I've gotten better, but it's still a struggle. What sucks is that when I've been forced to take something on, I usually handle it well. It's hard to make the heart do what the head knows it should.

So, I hear ya. I've been there.

35. Sometimes I think a little insecurity would be good for me
I have to say, my friend, that I very seldom feel insecure. I'm not sure that's a good thing. I have a tendency to bull right into things without thinking them over too awfully much and that's gotten me in trouble more than once (though I do have to say I have an amazing knack for landing on my feet).

I guess what would be best would be a nice balance - enough insecurity to cause us to weight things carefully with enough confidence to recognize our opportunities.

At any rate, c'mere and let me give you a hug -

67. Yes, and usually it's very hormonally-based.
for me the trick is to remember that the insecurity I feel is temporary and fleeting.

Everything changes....this, too, shall pass....It's all part of the ebb and flow of life.....

The challenge is to be loving and compassionate with ourselves even when we don't have our shit together and we feel weak and insecure.

Perhaps there's NOTHING you need to do to "fix" yourself....just allow yourself to be who you are, which is GREAT.
