Any other non-fuck-ups here?
Sometimes I read about people whose lives were/are truly fucked up and think that I'm just the blandest thing in the world. Shit, who wants to read anything I'd put out? Stable middle-class home, white-bread suburban America, no drug problems, no money problems, no food problems, not mentally disturbed, never abused, all grades always above acceptable, in top ten in class...Fuckin' boring.

Why does it seem like every successful person in anything had "issues" they overcame? Weird psychology.

20. Nailed it in one.
Poor WIMR has years of prime fuckuped-ness potential ahead of her AND she's in the band.
Band kids have a higher potential in my experience.

9. I'll join you with the fucking up. I'm the world's most gigantic fuck up
just ask my family. They get off on telling random people on the street what a fuck up I am. I don't even know what they'd talk about if they didn't have my fucking up to talk about.

:'( I really need a hug. Desperately even

5. You're like I was
My advice is, stay boring for now, get really good grades, go to university, get a brilliant job, and then just be fucking WEIRD. Really well paid and WEIRD.

(I hope I didn't offend you before, btw. I was only kidding).

6. That's my goal.
Weirdness to the max. Hahahaha, I love fuckin' with people sometimes. On transcript, I'm like the model academic. In person, I'm kinda crazy and a school-hater.

(What are you talkin' about? I don't think I've been offended lately...;))

8. LOL.
Well, I'll take some risks, but not as far as my physical body goes. I practically live in my head anyway.

11. The thing is, we hear about fuck ups much more than
we hear about things just quietly going right. So, take those fuck ups with a pillar of salt because they really aren't the norm -- they're just what we pay attention to.

And, living in your head can be a very nice place to start from. :)

15. That sounds like me
I am boring too.

The other day, somehow we got into a conversation at work about teenagers and my coworkers did not believe me that I NEVER got in any trouble. Sure, I mouthed off to my parents once in a while but mostly I stayed in my room. Of course I didn't have any friends, so maybe that was why I was never in trouble. I never got involved with the right crowd, much less the wrong ones.

Today, I confine my trouble making to DU. LOL

19. I was like that, too
Had very few friends, but the ones I had were good ones. All well behaved, no drugs, drinking, etc.

But we were considered losers then. Now, I'm not so sure. Or, the opinions of your peers are not all that accurate.

17. I don't think of myself as a fuck up
I have fucked up in life

and people may have said i was a fuck up and at the time i might have fit that definition.

however, the fucking up in life is a different thing that "being" a fuck up.

:hi:

18. I used to think like that but then realized
That if you write well, that's what counts. It doesn't have to be about disaster.

Jane Austen is my favorite author; she wrote what she knew about and that was middle class life. People are interesting, so if you just observe them, you can come up with something and if it is well written and readable, it's going to work.

Anything can be boring, too. If badly written, the most extreme types of circumstances can be dull.

Your description of yourself sounds very much like me. Except I am also considered the black sheep of my family. Go figure.

22. I'm doing well.
But I know there are many who aren't, including some of my friends.

I also know I went through a tough time and a lot of hard work to get to where I am today, and that without the help of my friends and family I wouldn't have succeeded.

Not everyone is able to, or ready to, overcome an issue they're presented with at any given time.

23. Being good at life doesn't mean you are boring
And making a lot of mistakes does not necessarily make you interesting.

But keep in mind that we all make mistakes at some point in life- it's the curse of being human.

24. You should form a special club. For you and all the "non-'fuck-ups'" you know.
Edited on Sun Aug-19-07 09:29 PM by BlueIris
You can make jackets and t-shirts and bumper stickers about yourselves: "I am a non-fuck up" and the like. Or "I was breast-fed, therefore I did not become a fuck-up," whatever slogans seem catchiest. And don't forget to share your special definition of what constitutes fucked-upedness with as many people as possible--like, coming from a family in which the parents had money problems, or having once received "bad" grades, say, because you went to a high school or prep school in the United States and your first language was not English, or you were born with a physical, mental or emotional disability. Share that with as many folks as you can, dude. With a bullhorn or a megaphone or something.
