So, I want to know you, whoever you are, and whatever you want to know about me, just ask.

And here's the answer to a basic question: I have a music degree and like climbing things.

Your turn...

Cheers! :toast:

36. My dad taught at Indiana State University for decades-
Dr. Robert F. Hounchell of Terre Haute, IN.
He is an amazing person- I feel so fortunate to call
him my father.
My folks moved to Texas after he retired- to this day,
I will never know why.
My mom was a pianist and I grew up immersed in music-
I am a songwriter and I attribute every note I hear to the
fact that I grew up surrounded by music.
I used to sit with my ear against the bottom of my
mother's upright while she played Chopin-
I wish every kid could grow up like that.

5. I am fascinated by those who continue to write freely...
I suppose creative energy is something that must be constantly used, or it will congeal into an inflexible glue. I was once a prolific writer, but over the past few years I have been lazy and therefor my metaphoric sensibilities could endure a bit of thinning, so to speak.

10. I'm a trucker and I occasionally write stories
for the lounge about my experiences on the road. I've written about 20 so far, but I haven't written for the lounge in a while. I hope to someday have enough of those little stories to get a book together.

What is your perception of truckers and trucking?

14. Well, since my Grandparents were truckers...
I'd say my perception is pretty damn good. They used to haul cross country out of Wilmington, NC. My Grandfather is a character and my grandmother was an absolute ball of fire (she died last year) and I miss her a lot. They made more friends between them than any couple I've ever known.

I loved teaching elementary music, but here in NC I had to bounce between 3 schools and it just made me crazy. I sometimes miss teaching full-time though, but I still get plenty of opportunities to step back into the classroom from time to time. (given I'm only about 30 years from retirement)... B-)

How long ya been teaching?

Unless I wanted to conduct a Church choir *shivers*, which probably wouldn't last too long seeing as I'm an Atheist, I'm a bit limited without a Masters degree.

Do you perform with a larger ensemble or solo?

I come to DC from time to time to visit family in Bethesda. I'd visit way more often if I could stay where I can take my dog. Their lease doesn't allow me to bring her and I can't afford to stay in hotels all the time.

Last time I was there, we attended the NSO tribute to Rostropovich. Not the NSO's best performance, but it was nice and informal, so I was able to stay behind and chat for a while with some of the performers and Leonard Slatkin.

I'm whiny and have a problem with TMI. But I'm also very free with hugs, sympathy and inane blather about Battlestar Galactica. Other than that -- currently starting school for a degree in health information technology, single mom, dog lover, nearly communist, agnostic, foul mouthed and Iowa born but now a Cheesehead.

My question for you, what aspect of liberal politics are you most passionate about and why is it important to you? 50 words or less, single spaced ....did I mention I'm also a smart ass?
