I miss black light posters and strobe lights.
Yes, I confess- years ago and miles away I had it all- the party room with a mandatory black light and many groovy psychedelic posters, a nice strobe light for when things REALLY got going, incense burners, home made bongs, and of course the obligatory component stereo system that had killer speakers with eighteen inch woofers that could shake a house off its foundation when In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida cranked up.

It's a damned pity I lost all that stuff- I really miss those impromptu parties and all they promised (but rarely delivered).

Oh, I know it's all still available- go to any Spencer's Gifts and it's seventies heaven come to life. But it's hard to get excited about it any more- it would take too much money I could spend on... oh, say, RENT...

I DO still have my home made bong, however....

1. Just thinking about that is making me dizzy.
Ug.

I miss a lot of stuff too but I'm glad we mostly outgrow tacky. :)

3. When I was 9 years old I had about 7 or 8 blacklight posters, 2 blacklights, and a strobe light
the posters were all on the walls of my bedroom, and I would have the blacklights on, invite the family in for a "light show," play some kind of music on my little stereo (I can't remember, but whatever was popular in 1969), and do the strobe occasionally, and use a flashlight with different color filters for "shooting star" effects. My family put up with it, but left the room as soon as the song was over. I wish I still had all the posters, but sadly when I went away to college my Dad's second wife threw out most of my stuff, including my records!

4. Far out

...I am old, I think I was in your room.

Glad to hear about the bong...after all you've got to have priorities.

9. I used to paint posters like that.
I was in junior high in 66-'68, and I saw Fillmore posters and flipped out. I taught myself how to do the weird lettering and everything. I didn't make direct copies.

I had a really cool art teacher that let us do our own thing after we completed the class assignments, and only about three or four kids in the class were creative enough to think up something to do.

I drew my design in pencil, outlined everything in India ink on a brush, then painted the sections with day glo poster paint, and then reoutlined everything in black India ink.

I still love Fillmore posters and don't have any originals but made my own versions!

I should take it up again!!

10. If they look as good as they sound you could make some money
I say go for it. Start a web store- black light art is still available elsewhere, so why not create your on niche?

11. lol I was fixin' to say..
go spend some time at Spencer's.. looks like you know all about that though.

The dancefloor is what I miss the most, I have little jokey disco balls around to remind me. I've been wanting for years to turn part of the basement into a little dancefloor with some lights, and it's already got the sound hooked up. It would just be me and the cats partying, with none of the x or coke us little fools took in the 90's but that's okay!
