Fellow geeks: Ever write fan-fiction?
I just took my first and assuredly only foray, and would like to hear some confessions.

1. I wrote a couple fan-fic Star Trek stories back in high school.
They are safely under lock and key and have never been seen by any eyes but my own.

2. No, but I know people who do.
I have read a lot of it.

Some of it was good, some bad.

3. Just about all fan fiction is bad.
Like Christian rock, anything that needs a marketing crutch of some kind to get noticed is probably not so good. Now that I think about it, at least the Star Wars fan fiction has a good chance of being better than its source material. :P

4. I used to write fan fiction on my typewriter back in the day.
I didn't like the way a certain book ended and changed it to something more palatable. Hilarious.

5. And then Jesus died and all the disciples were totally bummed but they eventually got over it.
The End. :P

6. That was precisely my intention!
My friend and I argued over which Star Wars film was the worst: she picked Attack of the Clones, I went with Return of the Jedi (the thing has rankled me for a decade). We made a bet and to work I went, penning an Episode VI screenplay.

Hilarious is definitely the appropriate word.

7. Yes. I was pretty good at it. Some people stole my stories and I got out of it 4 years ago.
