Creepy airplane flew over house yesterday
My dad and I were outside chatting when we heard an airplane coming from the west. It cut it's engines way back. Across a farm field we say the tip of the wing just over a row of trees. It was making a hard right turn and we both thought this plane was going to crash. A minute later, it came at my house, this time from the east, flying incredibly low. We had a good look at it. It was a large plane, with 4 propellers. We saw no markings, and it was either painted a very dark green or just a greyish black. It reminded me of a bomber but I'm not that familiar with military aircraft.

The plane buzzed right over my house and then did one more loop, turning back west in the direction it came from.

It really creeped us out. The maneuvers this plane was doing seemed to be quite dangerous, particularly at the low altitude.

We live in a very rural part of Rhode Island.

Anyone have any ideas about what this was?

1. Maybe someone who had taken a stunt pilot course
and was out practicing in a reckless way.

We have those up here, but they tend to stay over fields while they're doing the fancy stuff.

2. There is rural in RI?
I'm kidding. I grew up in Warwick.

I have no idea what it could have been. But Hi! Get a Dell's for me. :)

:hi:

3. Sounds like a C-130 Transport
They have to do some dangerous maneuvers because some of the airfields they fly into aren't very hospitable

6. The 130 is also used in non-military applications
For example, by state forestry services in fire-fighting, and as a weather plane. They're quite the "maid of all work."

7. Air National Guard
The 143rd Airlift Wing flys out of Quonset. They are equipped with C-130s, so my guess is that they are the owners of the mystery plane.

8. makes you sort of appreciate how scary it would be to live somewhere
when the sound of a plane could signal impending bombing. I think about that a lot actually, how soft we are.

9. The Tennessee air guard buzzes my house 2-3 times a week.
I live on one of their "low level" training routes. They are typically flying at 2-300 ft, my dogs go nuts every time they fly over.
