And truly a gentle giant.
Our 5 year old grandson uses him for a pillow/chair while watching TV.

Lost me on the snout. After losing my boy, I think I'm just seeing dane in everything. From what I've heard, the American is truly a wonderful dog to have around very small children.

I had several friends who had big dogs and all the babies growled before they talked. Pretty funny.

And a terrific lady.
She's the one who told me (when she was in her late 80s) "Here's the thing about 'life'. By the yard, it's hard. But by the inch, it's a cinch."

I don't think it was original with her, but it's the first place I heard it.

And that hair! A feature among those in my family is that we were all as bald as Elmer Fudd for at least the first six months of life. When a baby was born with hair we knew that was a feature from the in-law's side, LOL.
