The mellow ending of a nice weekend, for the good times.
Edited on Sun Aug-03-03 08:05 PM by The Lone Liberal
Time to wind down and prepare for the next week, but there is still some time left in this old weekend, so I will spend it getting mellow. Some old songs help me get in that mood.

How do you close-out the weekend? What in the furture to you hope for, and, what do you look back at? Being alive can be fun, even with a few tears.

Don't look so sad
I know it's over
But life goes on
And this old world
Will keep on turning
Let's just be glad
We had some time to spend together
There's no need to watch the bridges
That we're burning

Lay your head,
Upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body
Close to mine
Hear the whisper of the raindrops
Blowing soft, against the window
And make believe you love me,
One more time,
For the good times

I'll get along
You'll find another
And I'll be here
If you should find,
You ever need me
Don't say a word
About tomorrow, or forever
There'll be time enough for sadness
When you leave me

Lay your head
Upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body
Close to mine
Hear the whisper of the raindrops
Blowing soft against the window
And make believe you love me
One more time
For the good times

1. Hey Lone Liberal
I unwind by having a couple of drinks and hanging out on DU. I'll be looking forward to getting back to college in the fall. It's been eight years since I dropped out. Eight crazy years as a truck driver. That's what I'll look back on. All the lessons I learned about the working class and life in general from behind the wheel.

Nice poem. Here's a nice mellow song by Staind to help you wind down.

"So Far Away"

This is my life
It's not what it was before
All these feelings I've shared
And these are my dreams
That I'd never lived before
Somebody shake me 'cause I must be sleeping

(chorus)
Now that we're here, it's so far away
All the struggle we thought was in vain
All the mistakes, one life contained
They all finally start to go away
Now that we're here, it's so far away
And I feel like I can face the day
I can forgive, and I'm not ashamed
To be the person that I am today

These are my words
That I've never said before
I think I'm doing okay
And this is the smile
That I've never shown before
Somebody shake me 'cause I must be sleeping

(chorus)

I'm so afraid of waking
Please don't shake me
Afraid of waking
Please don't shake me

(chorus)

3. Thanks I like that.

2. Lord, haven't thought of this song for ages.

One of my favorite Tom Jones ones (also liked The Green Green Grass of Home, because it reminded me of Ireland). (No, I never attended a concert and certainly would not have thrown my underwear at him.)

On edit: Being alive is great, even in these times. What do I look forward to? More times with the trips, friends, tears always exist, especially for women. How do I close out the weekend? By going to sleep, LOL.
