Mine's Great Northern - although Cannelonis are up there, too.

Spill 'em!

35. Noice! I transferred all my Firesign vinyl to CD....I like the scratches and pops.
I wanted to preserve the "vynil" experience as much as possible - 'cuz that's how I remember listening to "Dear Friends" and "ELectrician," et al. as a kid.

Have you seen this yet? I've been recording as much of this as a I can - lots of Firesign podcasts, including much from their radio shows from the 60's-70's. HIGHlarious stuff:

I throw a couple cans in a pan with a clove or two of garlic. A teaspoon+ of cumin. A Tablespoon+ of garlic and a bayleaf. Simmer til it thickens up.

You can eat it on rice, as a dip or on in a tortilla with your favorite go-withs.

though I like 'em all (with the exception of lima beans).

I often eat them as snacks - with a bit of flax or hemp oil drizzled on them, and a pinch of kelp flakes. :9

33. Haricot Verts

Haricots Verts With Warm Shallot Vinaigrette

Haricots verts are green beans that are small, slender, and a vivid green. While haricots verts is french for "green beans" regular green beans can be substituted and the cooking time adjusted to increase by 5 minutes. This recipe was adapted from a popular cooking magazine and posted for the 2006 Zaar World Tour - FRANCE

1 1/2 lbs French haricots vert
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup shallots, about 2 large, chopped
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt

1. In a large saucepan of boiling water, place haricots verts and cook 3 minutes or until tender crisp. Drain and plunge beans into ice water, drain and set aside.

2. In a large non stick skillet, over medium high heat, add shallots and saute 4 minutes or until golden brown. Add vinegar and stir, cook approximately 5 minutes or until mixture thickens. Place haricots verts to mixture, add salt and pepper and saute 2 minutes or until beans are heated through. Serve warm or at room temperature.

41. They are also the origin of the word "Zydeco".
Edited on Tue Jun-19-07 08:45 AM by GumboYaYa
There is a line, "les haricot son sale", from an old creole work song that was sung in the fields that gave rise to the term "Zydeco" to describe Creole Music.
