1. He was more talented than many realize...
Guess who executed THESE before he decided
to leave the world of Graphic Design and
try his hand at acting:

Yup.

and herself about 5-6 years ago I believe. It was during the time he was on News Radio. Such a shame. :(

Hard to believe, still.

I loved him on SNL and The Simpsons. I never saw NewsRadio until it was in reruns after his death.

My favorite bits were "The Sinatra Group", "Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer", his Bill Clinton, his Ronald Reagan, and his Phil Donahue.

What a sad waste...

54. The funniest thing about "The Sinatra Group" was that it parodied McLaughlin ...
so Phil was sort of doing Frank Sinatra doing John McLaughlin!

"You, Sine-Aid O'Connor! Waddya you say, cueball!" or words like that ...

10. His work on NewsRadio was just as good as it gets.
I'm still watching the reruns on TBS every single day.
Every line he delivers is a classic.

His "Bill McNeil" may well be the single greatest
sitcom performance in history.

17. Hartman played "Captain Carl" in the "Pee-Wee Herman Show",
the HBO special that essentially introduced the character...he was freaking hilarious in that role! Practically stole the show from Pee-Wee, if that's possible...

that came through all of his characters, no matter how smarmy they were. Of all of the SNL deaths, his and Gilda Radner's really hit me hard...they were really struck down at the height of their careers.

52. "Murder One! Wow! Even if I lose, I'll be famous!"
Ironically, this line is one that the Lionel Hutz "World of Springfield action figure" speaks... sort of a sick joke, and maybe he'd appreciate it. There's also a note that proceeds from the figure go to his kids' trust fund or something.

"I thought you said Troy McClure was dead!" "No, what I said was Troy McClure sleeps with the fishes." I attribute a big part of the Simpsons decline to Phil's passing.

Phil was one of the greats...
