1. You mean those vile little tree rats that raid the bird feeders,
dig holes in the lawn and harass the other animals?

What's not to like? :sarcasm:

creature. I've yet to devise an anti-squirrel strategy. They ate 2 feeders full before 10am when I looked outside.

I hope nobody does a what's for supper thread :sarcasm:

40. You won't like this, but I don't like it when the stupid birds hone in on the squirrels' food.
I feed the cute little squirrels (call me mammal-centric), and the darn bird brains swoop down and pick off the peanuts.

I did scatter seed in the woods for the squirrels for a week or so. They still go for feeder.

How long could a squirrel block last? The seem to never stop eating.

46. They're bad here because I'm near two rivers--the Fox and the Illinois
Between the good water sources and the gardens in people's yards, there's plenty to eat and drink. And they've lived in town for generations, so not afraid of people--or beagles, apparently.

Tonight's attempt at getting them to leave--cat litter droppings in their holes. This has been recommended by several people I know. I'll keep you posted.

I am severly "dain-bramaged".. massive TBI, long coma, months in hospitals, re-learning to walk, read, deal with people, etc etc.. but I never took offense at your name. I do however take offense to any bit of animal cruelty (NOT complaining about yard-rats, but I think you know the kind of cruelty I'm talking about.. if you concentrate you can see the difference) I really am sorry that my statement of my opinion so long ago earned me a place on your ignore list and in your memory for months.

71. Now, now!
Here's a story:

We had quite a few squirrels on our street in Santa Monica who would scamper over to our side of the street to find whatever nuts or food might be lying around. I'd feed birds but then these squirrels would come over also. We got on real friendly terms with a female who would come in our house. Then one day she stopped coming and after a few weeks she turned up with two babies in tow. We all spent a pleasant summer afternoon in the back yard with the mom and her babies playing around. One day the mother ate too much food and was lying on a branch of a peppertree beside our house with her stomach spread out trying to take a nap when she fell down. I laughed so hard and I could swear she acted like she was embarrased but she got up and climbed that tree again giving me the eye.

87. I don't have a picture
But it's a long hanging type , with a metal cage around it .

the perches close when something heave like a squirrel is on it .

I also have it hanging on a long cable so it's far enough away
from the tree so the squirrels can't reach it .

76. watch out! one bit my daughter.
and she wasn't even bothering it. I was holding my daughter and standing next to a big bolder. The squirrel came up the bolder and bit her finger. My girl was 1 and 1/2 yrs old; I'm sure she put her finger out to it but other than that the squirrel was WAY out of line. Jerk.

And then a couple months later (last month?) a bunch start dropping dead of the plague at the same park here in Denver.

Jerks.

83. here they climb up in tall pine trees
and eat around the tender ends of big green (heavy) pinecones. Eventually the pinecones fall off, 50 feet or so, breaking car windows, putting big dents in the roof/hood of your car, or, if your really lucky, cold-cocking you as you walk down the sidewalk!
