2.5 Hours of Dental Work Yesterday - Mammogram Today - Afraid for Tomorrow!
Edited on Wed Jun-13-07 04:19 AM by REP
Tuesday I had two teeth worked on so they can be crowned plus a filling done and what seems like a zillion needle jabs. One tooth was this -><- close to needing a root canal, so it is still sore as hell.

I get my boobs flattened later this morning. I've had cysts for just about forever, so instead of the 1 or 2 calcifications some women have, I have 25+ per knocker. The tech always looks concerned until I explain my history of cysts. Between that and the flattening - last time there was blood involved! - it's not the most fun thing.

After all this, I think I either deserve to do some shopping ... or perhaps hide under my bed.

edited to add spleen, motherfucker!

18. Ouch. . . I had to have a crown, two fillings and a cleaning done on Monday
I feel part of your pain :(. (the boob flattening I will most likely never experience, being a man and all).

My gums STILL hurt from the two fillings (which were both right at the gum line.

OUCH.

I have to go in on the 29th for a crown and two fillings at the gum line. And maybe be shunted over to the peridontist as well. Ouch.

29. I'm Having Two More Crowns Week After Next; One With a Root Canal
This round of dental work will include: at least two root canals (already had one done); four crowns; a constellation of fillings and a removeable bridge. The tooth that was drilled yesterday that might need a root canal finally stopped throbbing, but that might have something to do with me finally giving up and taking Percocet...

and a pap and blood work done last Thursday (my triglycerides are a little high). Doc just called this morning to tell me that they'll probably call me back for another mammogram. Didn't get the left one squished correctly apparently and something about two small calcifications x( Oh joy...more torture forthcoming

I had a digital squishing, so they were able to tellright away that they needed to crush the right one again a little harder ... Hope your calcifications are like mine: meaningless!

Preventative care can be a pain.

I haven't started mammograms yet (my doc said I should at 40). Are they as painful as they've been described to me?

On edit: I agree with the spa treatment. You should treat yourself right after all that.

Writer.

31. If You Have Cystic Breasts, Why Yes They Are!
Though I hear they're worse for women with small breasts, Cysts just make the hooters sore anyway, so smashing them flat in a press doesn't help. I'm in a high-risk group (nullapara, cysts) so I get high-tech smashing, which is supposedly as little worse than old-school smashing. I've had worse procedures, though!

34. They give me ultrasounds...
B/C I'm younger and the tissue is too dense to read properly. Several excruciating mammograms taught them that. Ugh. I need to go again, I'm overdue. The process stresses me out so much, I had to take a break. I'm a hypochondriac (the real kind), and this condition is agonizing for me. :(

35. Digital Is The Gold Standard For Dense Breast Tissue
I'm a nullapara, so I've got very dense breast tissue; a regular mammogram wouldn't be able to read shit. That's why I have to drive to hell's elbow (okay, it's just Santa Clara) to get the digital done, instead of down the street to my regular office!

I hope the lumpectomy was a success, and that they don't have to do anymore compressions on it for a while. Damn, that must hurt like fucking hell! I hope it's feeling better!

33. Must be mammogram season
I had mine Monday.

The way I deal with things like this is by remembering childbirth. If I can do that for 26 hours, I can deal with a few minutes of pain. :D

37. I Pass Kidney Stones Every 30-45 Days
I'm a nullapara, but I think 20+ years of near-monthly stone production is close to childbirth ... except that no one cares if I flush the stone down the toilet!
