What do you do to get involved?
I contacted the leader of my local chapter of the Progressive Democrats of America a couple of weeks ago to see if there was anything I could do. She said she would keep me in the loop, but I haven't heard from her since. Like a lot of you I am interested in making a change in the Democratic party. I write my congressmen on occasion, I vote, and I make campaign contributions, but beyond that there is not much that I do as far as actually being involved and currently nothing as far as making a change goes.

One thing that hampers me is my work schedule. I work 3rd shift and I have to keep the same sleeping schedule on the weekend or else I will end up totally screwed up on Monday. Not a good thing when you have to drive for a living. I do have a few free hours during the day between 10am and noon through the week and a little more than that on the weekend. Is there any kind of volunteerism that I could be involved with during the night on the weekends?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

1. My dear Droopy!
Good for you, for your desire to be active politically!

Unfortunately, I have no suggestions.......

Unless...

Maybe check your local phone listings for the Democratic Party...

Call them if you find anything......

Or use the Internet to find a local office...

That's where I'd start for inspiration.....

3. Unfortunately
there are some Democrats that I do not want to be associated with. I know that sounds bad, but the progressives are the only wing of the party that I see as really wanting to take the party in a new, positive direction.

2. maybe homeless shelters
churches sometimes alternate nights of taking in homeless people and they sometimes need helpers...I don't know which groups do it though.

4. That's a good idea
and I do live close to a major metropolitan area that has a population of homeless people. I'll have to check into that.
