Kucinich's Date gets engaged....to someone else
One date with Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich may have been enough to convince Gina Marie Santore she didn't want to be out there any more. The 34-year-old aide to the Camden County Sheriff is now engaged to Robert Miller, a 39-year-old chef from Philadelphia. Santore was the winner of a national "Who Wants To Be A First Lady" contest sponsored by PoliticsNH.com after Kucinich, the only bachelor in the field of presidential candidates, said at a forum: "As a bachelor, I get a chance to fantasize about my first lady. And you know maybe Fox will want to sponsor it as a national contest or something." On December 11, Santore flew to Manchester, New Hampshire for a date with Kucinich -- and a horde of local and national media. "If I had known it would only take an hour with a congressman (to finally get engaged), I would've called Rob Andrews to request a meeting," said Santore, who worked on Andrews' congressional staff ten years ago.

2. She was already dating him
Sad that she had to go out with another man to get him to propose. Bet I know how that marriage will work out.

But hey, Clinton got his bump in the polls by being outed for screwing around with Flowers for years, so :D

3. What was up with that woman's hair?
Wow,she sure was missing a lot of hair in spots. I wonder if she had been a cancer patient? Anyway...I didn't think Dennis would be all that impressed with her. She wasn't all that attractive,IMHO.

4. She was living with a boyfriend when she "went out" with DK.

Perhaps that's the guy she's now engaged to. You'd think they could have picked a woman who wasn't involved with another man for the "date."

Isn't it interesting that this stunt got more media coverage than all of DK's actions to prevent/ stop the war in Iraq? How much mention have they made of Dennis Kucinich's leadership of the Progressive Caucus, which got 60% of the Democrats in the House to vote against the war? Have they ever shown Kucinich speaking out against the war in Congress, at an anti-war rally, or anywhere else? Have they ever allowed a serious discussion of his proposal for a Department of Peace?

Isn't it interesting that another previously little-known candidate, whose opposition to the war has wavered (he supported Biden-Lugar, he supports the occupation and says troops will have to remain), is the one the media have publicized and refer to as "the peace candidate"?

Isn't it interesting that the media don't bother to take that candidate to task when he claims that he's the ONLY candidate who opposed the war right from the start? Or when he suggests that all the candidates in Congress voted for the war?

The media are selling the election. If people don't wake up and see this, the 2004 election will be "Meet Up the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss."

No matter how cynical I get, the media is way ahead of me.

5. Or his help with Diebold's legal threats
The 'media' gave him a lot of coverage for that too. Much more than him being single / a vegan / having 'no chance'.

Mainstream media is great! They do the best they can, right? They know that an informed public is the only way to maintain a Democracy... so they care -- really they do!

10. If he would have had his election campaign as a reality show he would win

I'm telling you if the candidates would have made a reality show like "anna nicole smith show" out of their election campaign they WOULD win.. hands down.

Same thing goes for the presidential campaign

11. Dennis Kucinich did not authorize OR initiate the contest...
It was arranged by a political website not affiliated with his campaign. Dennis was kind enough to take the winner to breakfast.
