"Take medication with food"
"Medication may cause nausea. Take with food."

Yeah, except I'm so nauseous from last night's dose, just the thought of food makes me turn green. ~sigh~

1. Just like pregnancy-
eat a few saltines and then take the med.

The saltines will help calm your stomach. Besides, if you take it w/o food the nausea will be even worse and it might lead to vomiting.

Doesn't do you any good if you've vomited up your med!

3. Yeah, saltines are a good idea
It's been a long time since I was pregnant - kinda forgot about that one. Thanks. :hi:

6. Saltines and Sprite
saved me during my pregnancy seven years ago.

A piece of dry toast might help too.

2. my doc gives me Zofran for the stuff that may cause nausea
that's one of the drugs they give chemo patients for nausea.

Most narcotic pain meds make me :puke:

4. I'm usually okay with them
This is a med I haven't taken before and it hit me hard. ~sigh~ Does the Zofran make you drowsy? I know the stuff they give me for nausea when I have a migraine (Compazine) knocks me out. I can't take any of that because I have to go to school in a couple of hours.

7. These are antibiotics
Narcotic pain meds have never given me much problem in the nausea department - both a blessing and a curse at times :eyes: - but for some reason, I have problems with certain antibiotics.

8. Ugh. I'm sorry.
:(

I describe the taste of my three main meds like this.

1. Cherry flavored nail polish remover
2. Rancid chalk
3. Sour, metalic vomit.

:puke:

Someday they will find a way to make medicine taste good, and they'll charge us extra for it.

13. OMG, you are so right....
And I swear, I take one med that tastes and smells so bad that I can smell it oozing out of my pores (though everyone else thinks I'm imagining it). :D

14. I have that same thing with one of mine.
One of my meds has a smell I swear I smell in my sweat. Nobody else seems to notice, and I can't imagine how that's possible.

It's a conspiracy to make us buy more soap. :P

I've gotten into the habit of using cool scented soaps because of this. I have chocolate soap and Wintergreen soap in the shower right now. I smell edible. :9

11. Yeah, I'm kind of going through that too.
Cereal with rice milk has been about the only thing that helps me. :pals:

12. You have my sympathy
It seems backward that something that's supposed to make you feel better makes you feel so lousy. Feel better soon. :hi:
