Teens Found On Piggly Wiggly Roof Trying To Get High Smoking Oregano

Two Hilton Head Island teens hoped to get high atop the Piggly Wiggly, but found themselves climbing down from the Coligny Plaza supermarket with a baggy of oregano and a trespassing warning from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

A security guard called deputies when he noticed the boys -- ages 14 and 15 -- on the roof of the store around 1:40 a.m. Saturday morning. As a deputy approached the teens, he saw one of them quickly put something in his pants pocket, according to the report.

That something was a green leafy substance they thought was marijuana, but turned out to be oregano. One of the boys said he got the herb from a "guy he knew," and they had unsuccessfully tried to smoke it, the report stated.

They were released to a parent.
