2. I'm sure I'm the ONLY one who thinks this is a ridiculously overrated film
I know you didn't ask for a film review, but...

Just my .02 :-)

7. "The Lion in Winter" is my very favorite movie.
Some more are: "Some Like It Hot", "The Apartment", "Sunset Boulevard", "All About Eve", "Network".

There really aren't any newer films I like more than these.

11. only one I've seen is
"The Apartment." Thinking about it now, I want to see every film Jack Lemmon ever made. I'm so sad he's gone.

note to self: add "The Lion In Winter" to Netflix queue.

4. One of my top ten favorite movies. Here's a trivia question.
FANTASTIC FILM, one of only three to win all five "Big" Academy Awards:

Best Actor, Actress, Screenplay, Director, Picture.

(Can you name the other two films, without IMDB or other search?)

13. It takes little effort to still appreciate it
even with the mass marketing of Hannibal since it came out. I was so disappointed with the Hannibal novel (I've heard some defenses of its dreamy Grand Guinol-ness over the years, but it was a betrayal of the characters and tone of the first two books, imho), then the film (my love for Jodie Foster grew when she refused it--whattawoman), and the needless remake of "Red Dragon" (since it copped out on the novel's ending as well, why not stick with the vastly superior "Manhunter?").

Now I hear there is a "Hannibal thru the ages" film being made. Dino De Laurentis has no shame, even by Dino De Laurentis' standards. The same for Sir Anthony.

SotL was a classic, though. What I appreciate the most is that, like Se7en a few years later, they showed relatively little gore and instead gave you enough detail to imagine much worse than any fx crew could generate (compare SotL's description of the "he ate her tongue" scene and the pointless recreation of that scene in Hannibal).
