7. Wow, the development of the feathers is so cool!
Where did you get the egg? Do parrots lay only one egg at a time? Where was the parent and what did the little bird eat?

14. Cockies usually lay one, rarely two. As with any large bird,
child care is labor intensive and their maturity period is four to five months. Plus, cockies have a long life span, 30 years at least. If mom is raising that sweetie, it gets recycled food from her. Mom eats and regurgitates it back to junior. If it's being hand raised, there are special powered mixes which are mixed with water, heated to junior's body temp and fed to him by syringe. Whoever is raising him is doing an excellent job; that's a very healthy, well cared for youngin'.

10. Thanks for posting.
I've seen lots of pictures of baby parrots--even seen some in person--and I still can't get over how prehistoric they look early on. Well, it is said that dinosaurs are their ancestors.

12. NOT my pictures, a set I found online.
Sorry if you took them to be mine. I will take pictures of my doves when they hatch and as they develop, they look like naked albatrosses and then pin-feathery, finally beautiful ring necked doves. I thought this was a good set of cute? ugly? pictures.

16. I didn't realize that parrots had a pict subspecies!

Seriously, though, that's cool!

The little guy looks absolutely joyful in the second picture - wonderful!

Parrots are beautiful birds. I'm jealous that you have one, and that it gave birth!
