I can give up cigarettes, I may even be able to give up drinking, anything but pearl diving!

And, as far as dental dams go...ugh.

Oral sex can cause throat cancer
22:00 09 May 2007
NewScientist.com news service
Roxanne Khamsi

People who have had more than five oral-sex partners in their lifetime are 250% more likely to have throat cancer than those who do not have oral sex, a new study suggests.

The researchers believe this is because oral sex may transmit human papillomavirus (HPV), the virus implicated in the majority of cervical cancers.

The new findings should encourage people to consistently use condoms during oral sex as this could protect against HPV, the team says. Other experts say that the results provide more reason for men to receive the new HPV vaccine.

Those hot-blooded satyrs are always on the job. Their extra-marital activities are something startling. Frankly I don't know how they find the time to write articles.

They are nothing but lab-coated libertines. 'Anywhere anytime' is their motto. Off with the glasses and they're at it.

But the worst are the cancer researchers. Those tatty, scrofulous old rapists, are second in depravity only to epidemiologists. Eppys are right whores and trollops, cynical bed-hopping firm-breasted Rabelaisian nerds that make Fanny Hill look like a dead Pope.

3. if true, maybe this will show that the vaccine isn't just a women's issue
like most STDs, if both partners aren't treated, the disease will recur. And if it is an issue for men, the likelihood that insurance will adequately cover the cost of the HPV vaccine increases substantially.

back at ya! :hi:

btw, just had my regular gyn check up and they recommend HPV screening for all women, regardless of age. The changes to the cervix caused by the HPV viruses don't show for 30 years, so they believe that the screening is being proactive to watch women at risk. No matter how old you are, get the screening done. I'm happy to know that I've tested negative.

7. I specifically went to the lounge to see if anybody posted this yet...LOL.
If the effects are cumulative, and it applies to men going down on women, then I think I might have increased my risk of throat cancer by 2500%!!! LOL.

Also, isn't strangely coincidental that they publish this finding right after they develop a new HPV vaccine?

9. makes sense I suppose with the HPV cervical cancer link
It'll be very interesting to see what this does to the debate. Will the fundies still morally object if it's for boys?

14. Do you know how bad this is gonna mess with men everywhere?
Oh man. I bet you there is not a man alive that isn't gonna hear about this study at some point--probably at a time when he REALLY isn't terribly interested in what a bunch of scientists have to say.

Oh my.

21. Um, you're kidding about the "no dental dams" right?
Right?

Forgoing safer sex practices is a really, really, really unsafe thing to be doing, not just WRT your health but the health of your partner/future partner(s).
