Who besides me remembers this?

CRAZY. I've been asking people of my age for eons (I've even posted about it here :shrug:) if they remembered this, and all I get is blank looks. I was checking the TV listings the other night and randomly discovered it's now on the Boomerang Channel (which is a spin-off of the Cartoon Network.)

I'm rather stoked. :D

7. My now 7 yr old just asked me "What does that (wait till your father gets home) mean?

I had to explain that back in tha day the ladies stayed home and took care of the demon children and the last resort they had was to say "You just wait till your father gets home!!". She then said, "Did they say it like this?" (puts hands on my throat ala Homer and growls like Reagan in the Exorcist.)

I had the song in my head one day like 15 years ago and was like "holy crap!! What *IS* that??". Then I started asking around and I got a resounding ".........".

Remember the crazy neighbor who was convinced the Russians were hiding behind every lamppost, voiced by Jack Burns? Amazing insight that show had, to predict freepers 35 years into the future.

17. I remember my mother saying it

as we looked down at her from the top branches of the ash trees in our front yard, well away from wrath, and the belt in her hand.

Don't worry, she never really hurt us; leather hides that we were. We did it, I think, as a sign of respect for her authority....


For what message would we have conveyed to her, if we actually stood there and took a beating with a belt, and didn't care?
