How do you feel about The Small Screen, as in portable DVD players or watching a movie on your iPod?
I was reading this at the LA Times Sunday Magazine:
to watch a full-length motion picture on an iPod is to give oneself an iHeadache.
In other words, the iPod sucks down the months of moviemaking precision—lighting, cinematography, set design—into a tiny, blurred nullity. http://www.latimes.com/features/magazine/west/la-tm-neil17apr29,1,1718047.story?coll=la-headlines-west&ctrack=1&cset=trueHowever, I disagree, but then I am not your typical movie watcher. The big screen overwhelms me. I lose track of the plot and I can't remember who is who. I'm a very low-involvement movie watcher. I can only think of one or two movies I've seen in my entire life that had me fully engaged.
Now, the Small Screen, such as on my portable DVD player or my iPod: that I can deal with. In fact, I have found that watching the Small Screen is much better for me than watching on a large screen. I am more focused and I get all wrapped up in the story. I just can't/don't do that on a large screen.
Not being a linear person, I can now watch movies on my iPod the way I want, since the iPod splits them into four files. I might watch the first part of one movie and then do something else, only to return a day or two later and watch another segment of the movie.
