I don't know what to make of this picture.
A burly bethonged woman with a surfboard and a helmet walking through somebody's backyard while being ogled by another helmeted backyard traipser.

:wow:

3. that woman can't be bigger than a size 6
which to me doesn't come close to fitting the definition of "large in bodily size"

4. Her upper back and shoulders are pretty ripped, aren't they?
I just don't know if I'm down with the thong as a bathing suit. But there are certainly greater abusers of the fashion!

6. She's built like a Greco-Roman wrestler.
I've seen her before in person and she is quite a striking woman.

7. No doubt, I was thinking she'd be bigger when I clicked on the post
but I think burly can also mean "muscular," or maybe "powerful."

16. Corran Addison
Self-aggrandizing uber-paddler who started Savage-V, Riot, and Dragorossi Kayaks.

I paddled with him up in Montana back in the 1990's, and I've never met a more conceited person. However, his paddling skills are truly amazing.

17. Okay, I recognize the name, but couldn't make out the appearance
Paddling is refreshingly low in huge egos--they are out there, but in lower percentages than most other "extreme sports I have any familiarity with.

I had no idea he was behing Drogorssi--I thought Ferrari of kayaks all the way muself. As usual their boats are WAYYYYYYY to tight for me. I can jam myself into a Dagger Agent 6.4, but the only boat I've been comfy in is a Bliss Stick. That even counts my Pyranha creek boat. The way my feet sit up against the bulkhead makes them fall asleep until I get used to it.

19. Try paddling C-1 some day
Your feet will be numb from your toes to 1/2 way up your shins. The pain of that position is something to behold. It's gotten so bad that I would come up broadside to the beach, tip over, and just slither out of the boat and onto the dirt...just laying there moaning until the feeling returns.

22. I tried OC-1 for a weekend. EXCRUCIATING.
My boat was set up so that my feet were flat along the bottom. They were in agony in about one minute. I think if I set it up so that my feet would be up on their toes it would be less (though still pretty) painful.

Plus OC-1 is just for people who like to do things the hard way. I'll stick with two blades, thank you very much! :)

18. "sturdy" was part of the definition
and I'll buy that she's sturdy

but I won't buy that she's big.

10. From wordnet
Burly: muscular and heavily built

Sheesh. Why are people getting wrapped around that one word and not the big picture?

21. Had the definition been...
muscular OR heavily built...or muscular AND/OR heavily built...

seriously, though...."burly" makes me think of a football player or a lumberjack.

13. I don't get the helmet
As for her body...well I just killed myself at the gym this morning in an attempt to get my upper thighs and ass to look that good. I wouldn't mind having shoulders like that either as well as her skin tone. $100 says I'd probably be jealous of her abs too.

Still not sure about the helmet though.

I must be living under a rock or something. I have never heard (or seen) river surfing before. Looks a little too dangerous for me.
