Why does iTunes alphabetize incorrectly?

and why does it piss me off so much? The worst part is that they're not even consistent in their lousy alphabetization.

1. How are you organizing the songs?

By genre, artist, song, etc.?

2. by artist

they alphabetize by the first name but not 100% of the time. When there's a "the" at the beginning of a name or title sometimes it's alphebetized with the T's and sometimes with the first letter of the next word. Worse than being wrong it's inconstently wrong and it makes me nuts.

3. They're all like that Sony's Connect does it too

And I'm so anal retentive with organizing that I actually fixed the "THE" issue and switched names to last name first.

I don't know about Itunes but you can in Connect. I need to have all the genres done right and now I'm fixing all the albums so the "THE" is at the end.

6. I took some pictures of an easy way to do this in iTunes.

Select the Artist:





Get info: Might be a little different on Windows






Select yes:






Change the name and click OK:






That will change all of that Artists songs in one step.
