Surprise, the furnace repairman is here!
I'm starting to lose faith that the furnace will ever run smoothly again although on Friday I was assured that it was working perfectly. That was right before they delivered oil and overfilled the tank so that it flowed all over the basement. I can hear the fellow talking to somebody on the phone. Maybe his girlfriend? I'm sure she knows exactly what knob needs to be tightened such that I have reliable heat and hot water once more. :eyes: It's a cheery 43 degrees outside and not a helluva lot warmer in.

2. It's the same company but a different guy.
So far I've seen four different guys and all of them have been clueless.

3. I'm sure it will be fixed just in time for summer
That's usually the way these things work.

4. My guess is that there will be no summer this year.
Somebody reminded me that last year there were only two dry days in all of May and summer arrived in August & departed in late September. Hey, wanna come live in Maine? :P

6. Well, that's very tempting
But I think I'll stay in crappy old California where it's supposed to be sunny and in the 70's today. :hi:

15. That is true.
After living up here for almost sixteen years I go nuts whenever I'm in Boston or even Portland. I probably conserve an hour or more a day NOT living in a big city.

He's perfectly respectable-looking but not beautiful like the first one. As for a picture of me, no way! :hi:

10. I hope everything works out for you, crim son.
It's bad when the outside is warmer than the in.

P.S. I got your pm. This is the first time I've been on since then. :)

14. Cool.
It's "fixed" again and beginning to warm up. If it works for longer than 72 hours, we'll have beat our record!

11. He's saying on the phone...
hey baby, yeah, I'm all alone down in this basement, yeah, there's nothing wrong with the furnace we just like to come back here over and over 'cause they keep paying us to come down here. Yeah, I'll have enough for that down payment on the boat soon....

:eyes:

Let's hope they fix it or tell you the truth about what's wrong with it!

16. "Phil's Furnace Repair Service"?

He's gone and I checked: no toolbox. This time he gave a completely different reason for the trouble and when he left I said, "See you on Friday!" At least he smiled.

Your name wouldn't be Phil, would it?

12. Are they going to do the clean up and/or pay for it to be done re: the overflow mess?
GollyGeeWillikers! That house has to sell!

BTW...Is this the furnace guy? If so, better get someone else!

(Cannot believe he has a g/f!)

17. Good god, how do you know that man has a girlfriend?
Since I am not permitted (!) to set up service calls or any appointment that costs money, I don't know how the STBE arranged it. I know he intended to insist that the cleanup be free of charge... and the fellow did clean everything up. It smells like cherries in here instead of a stinking garage.

This house will never sell. I will contract my terminal illness and die in this house, I just know it. :P

I'm crossing my fingers that this time he's done the job correctly and, as skygazer said, just in time for summer.

22. what day was this post written? Furnace?
It's about 85 here. I just got done cutting the grass and am still all hot and bothered, sitting here with no shirt on and no shoes in front of a box fan. Furnace? :wtf: I've got a furnace here just by going outside. But I don't have any hot water unless I fill a bucket and set it in the sun for a while. I've had the gas off for about a month.

25. It's 43 degrees here and rainy.
The furnace is also the source of our hot water so even in summer it has to work. We don't get hot enough in Maine to heat our water by the bucket :)
