The Last King of Scotland-2 thumbs up
ok i watched it last night and it was very good, very dark and heavy but excellent. Forrest Whitaker totally deserved that Oscar for his portrayal of Idi Amin, he made him charismatic and disarming and scary as hell, the kind of guy you could laugh with and then he's stab you in the neck and you never saw it coming. The movie starts out in 1970 during the coup and then moves on from there. Gillian Anderson is also in it and i almost didn't recognize her, she's blond and really thin with a british accent, not a huge part but she's there. Anyhow the last 10 minutes are truly ass clinching, i was glued to the screen waiting to see what was going to happen to Dr. Nicholas Garrigan, Amin's personal doctor and all around adviser played by James McAvoy.

If you have interest in the subject matter you should rent it, but be aware it's not about Amin's life as a whole, it only covers 1970 until about 1977 or so.

2. indeed, that was probably one of the most realistic portrayals i've ever seen
just beyond words really. Oh that scene where he's trying to find Kay and then he does----omg.

3. That's on my short list of must sees.
I heard that one of the extras, a documentary about the real Idi Amin is also worth watching.

I've always liked Forrest Whitaker.
