Question about neutering Cider...
Paul brought Cider home from the vet yesterday after his neuter. How long does it usually take for a cat to bounce back from this? He seems to be OK. Still kind of playful but a bit sore (obviously). I don't want the other cats bugging him until he's feeling better.

1. Probably varies with the cat...Pooky
bounced back after a couple of days, but I know that friends of ours have had cats that took longer. I think it probably depends on their age and level of activity prior to the surgery. Pooky was very active as a street cat, and he was not terribly young either (the Vet. estimated his age at two years). Take heart, he'll be back to normal before you know it. Higs to the kitty!

2. Abbie is going in Friday to get his done
Hopefully he'll get all those hormones out of him that makes him yowl everytime he smells a female cat nearby.

UGH!!!

3. It varies. He'll be fine before too long.
The anesthesia has to get out of his system. The only problem -- watch for him licking his parts excessively; watch for any discharge from the tiny incision that's there. Problems are rare. He'll be fine, Will. :)

4. He will be ok but his meow will be at a higher pitch
No guarentee the neighberhood Toms won't make fun of him for that.

5. Neighbors
Cider is an indoor only cat so that shouldn't be a problem. Since the others are fixed, too, they can't laugh too hard.

6. If you have females, keep him locked up for three days
In April I got the Titty Boy neutered. Picked him up the next day. "Is it going to be okay for him to be around female cats?" Yes, I was told, he can't get them pregnant.

I dropped him off at the house and went to work.

An hour later my wife called me. "I got woke up by Titty Boy raping Hormel in the living room."
