I am all too sadly aware they were a band. They were songwriters and musicians, but they never wrote or played a single thing I could listen to.

I suppose whoever is responsible for marketing them should get some kind of award or something. Few have ever accomplished so much with so little.

No offense, just my personal taste. I disliked everything about them. I can't think of another band that had less appeal to me than Kiss. For me, they're the worst ever. Maybe if I'd been 12 at the time I might have thought differently.

Kiss only sucks if you take them seriously. It's kind of like saying Spinal Tap sucks. They are more a live band than a studio recording group anyway. Aerosmith blows chunks. They had one or maybe two good songs tops: Dream On and MAYBE Walk this Way. Everything else they did should be mourned as a tragic waste of vinyl.

Not very familiar with Floyd except that one of their records seems to follow the visual performance of the Wizard of Oz.

Yes, KISS is responsible for some of the greatest blights in music history (from 1978 onward), but they had four or five great records. That makes up for Songs from "The Elder", Dynasty, the solo records, and everything they did in the 1980s (and 90s and continue doing to this day). It's sort of like Alice Cooper - as a solo act, he blows harder than anyone else. But you kind of have to give the name Alice Cooper a pass because he put out some great rock records when it was Alice Cooper the group, before he decided that he alone was Alice Cooper. The later era kiss was Gene and Paul and two other members who were not Ace and Peter and were easily rotated in and out (they had like four guitarists in as many years at one point).

Aerosmith, on the other hand, have always sucked. Scream and cry all you want about "Toys in the Attic" and "Rocks." They have always been a braindead, unimaginative rock band. There's nothing there that wasn't done by tons of other hard rock bands a million times better.

I don't necessarily think music should be Dylan-esque, but the lyrics below are simply amazing in their brutal stupidity. This is BAD MUSIC...not lyrics like Iggy Pop, that was kinda 'brilliantly stupid', these are just horrible lyrics. I also happen to think this band is also a terrible live act (I've seen them once and have seen live tapes of them, they suck and it is why I rank Kiss ahead of them, because Kiss is better live). Joe Perry is a good guitar player, but this band -Aerosmith- is horrible. And their lyrics reach such incredible depths of idiocy that I don't even take this act seriously. I hate this band so much I can barely speak straight.

I personally don't like Pink Floyd either, because their style isn't my thing, but Floyd is a brilliant band. They are great musicians, Waters was a superb lyricist, they push the envelope, and are a blazing live act. Like I said, Floyd isn't my bag, but they get it done in every way six was on Sunday and can see why people dig em.

The Doors are a good classic band. I listen to them every 4 or 5 months. Overall enjoyable, but it gets old to me sometimes, but it's always good to have the Doors greatest hits around.

KISS didn't suck, they just didn't aim very high. They were pulp fiction in musical garb, and that's all they tried to be.

Pink Floyd is inarguably one of the great musical bands of the rock era, and Aerosmith, while having a string of later hits nowhere near the quality of their early career, still clearly had a musical integrity.

The Doors, though. Good god, could Morrison have been any more dead before he died? Their drums sounded like a drum machine, Morrison sang like he was talking in his sleep, and their lyrics sounded like some middle intelligence high school kid's wet dream about what deep and meaningful lyrics were. Jim Morrison was the Thomas Kincaide of rock, only without the talent.
