Damn.... a friend died
I hadn't been to the local watering hole in over a week, and stopped in today. Found out one of the regulars died last Thursday. He was young - in his 30s. Had a wife and an infant girl.

He used to cook fantastic food for the bar during Monday Night Football - he'd do it for tips. Great food.

He also drove a cab at night. He was well-known for making sure anybody and everybody got home safely.

He didn't do drugs. Died in in his sleep. Damn.

4. true
there are far worse ways to go.

But he was far too young, and far too nice, and had way too much to live for.

9. It sucks to lose a friend...
especially one with as big a heart as it sounds like your friend had. Sounds like my kinda guy...generous and good.

12. He really was
I don't want to make more of our friendship than it really was - I knew him from the bar. In fact, I don't even know his real name - I know him only as "Swampy", which was his popular nickname.

I feel sad not for me, but for his wife and baby. It's just unfair.

17. Hey, he's still a friend.
Someone you're used to seeing every time you drop by. Someone who was kind in spirit, good to other bar patrons--sounds like a friend to me.

It's a loss to you, too.

14. Damn, indeed. Just damn. That's the best you can say when faced with that kind
of thing, trust me on that.

Shake your head, say "Damn..." as many times as needed.

You will NOT feel better tomorrow, but you might the next day. And incrementally from there on. Trust someone who's been there far too many times, OK?

You and I have had our differences in the past, but we have NO differences now.

Redstone

Do they know what the cause of death was? What a shame to die so young and leave a family behind.
