Man challenges lion to bullfight and survives
(Buenos Aires) Jan. 12, 2004 - A man who was attacked by a lion at a zoo in Buenos Aires has amazingly survived. Amateur video shows Lucas Tomas, 22, being attacked by the lion.

Tomas scaled a wall and jumped into the lions pit Sunday. He then began holding out his jacket as if it were a bullfighter's cape and challenging one of the two lions inside.

One of the lion's reacted by pouncing on the 22-year-old and knocking him to the ground, biting him repeatedly.
...
According to hospital officials, Tomas says he was ordered by voices from God to go in and taunt the lions .

1. Yeah, because God's all about doing practical jokes like that on people

Sad story. That boy have some serious mental problems; glad he wasn't killed.

If he had gone in on a lark then I wouldn't feel sorry, but this is a pretty serious mental condition if he thinks God is telling him to go taunt lions. What next - God tells him to go taunt a klan rally by wearing a Boy George t-shirt? God tells him to wake-up a sleeping bear? Pull the teeth out of a Great White?

2. Why can't God tell Pat Robertson do do something like that?
Heck, then even I would go to church every once in a while.

3. voices from God to go in and taunt the lions
I think I would be like, "What?, I think you have the wrong number" and then turn to the guy/gal next to me and say, god says I'm supposed to jump in there and taunt the lions, but I think he really is trying to reach you. Need a lift over the fence?

4. Reminds me of the guy who got mauled
by bears in a zoo a few years back. He said he went into the enclosure because the bears "were beckoning him in." Um, yeah - "here lunch, lunch, lunch."

Unfortunately, this one will survive and perhaps even procreate, so no Darwin Award for him.
