6 months later and I still obsessively run spybot programs and delete all info before logging off computer every day. And I don't have anything to hide. But once your privacy is compromised it is hard to get over that vulnerable feeling.

9. Why must so many threads lately in the lounge
have to be so damn veiled?

Some of us have no idea what the hell is going on!

11. It has nothing to do with the lounge
it is veiled only in that I was asking for other's experience

I found out today that someone I've lived with for 20 years has been spying on my computer activities

I thought I trusted them, but then again, maybe I haven't been trustworthy?

guard my flank is my new motto

35. The first year I was married, we rented a condo on the first floor
and apparently, there was a peeper who liked to spy in the area. We were newlyweds, say no more, and when we found out, that creeped us out. We left that place as soon as our one year lease was up and bought a place, but as soon as we found out about it from a neighbor, our windows were closed and shades pulled real tight.

They were aggressively nosy.
If they touched your mail it was opened, callers for you were interrogated.
And personal belongings were routinely searched.
And when they would say while I was going through your -insert private area here- I found -insert anything they didn't like-. they always ignored the inevitable "What were you doing in my - insert private area here-?.
They were all right otherwise.
It was best to stay at the motel and keep your stuff locked in the car while visiting.

Edited on Mon Apr-02-07 12:02 AM by grannylib
of disguise! It got to be quite a game, to see how much I could alter my appearance and have him skip a glance right over me.
Fucker.

on edit: it used to drive my poor profs NUTS though *lol* They never knew from one day to the next either what I might look like, but once I explained to them what was going on, they were very cool about it, and a couple of them even offered to walk me to my next class or to my car if I needed them too, or to find someone who would if they couldn't.

48. Yes

To some small extent by my wife, way back, but she stopped. And then I returned the favor when I investigated her infidelity years later, though mine was not real-time surveillance, or whatever, but after-the-fact excavation of data followed by an ambush (in another country) that a guerilla warfare expert would have been proud of.

Very recently I was spied on -- stalked, online -- but she was and is not important in my life beyond her invading it and spreading vicious lies about myself and (worse) a good friend.

People can be scum.
