Friday Night Music Thread
I've been going crazy with this song. I can't stop listening to it. I'm passing it on in hopes that it will stop pestering me.

SPK quite often has that dreaded earworm disease, and I think it's contagious!

11. Not so earwormie for me.

15. I have a different strain for sure...
you have Ohio version, and I'm stuck in morbid mode strain.

It's earwormie, maybe not so much until you've heard it over and over... and you start to really listen to the words and realize that it's a song about killing...:evilfrown:

;)

then again i may have a more "lethal" version of the earworm virus...

19. Yeah, but it has been filtered through other states too.
Maybe there is a studio version that I can find somewhere. I have to admit that live video of concert doesn't do much for me on YouTube. The quality just isn't there yet, and I am super picky about music. I thought my husband sucked as a bass player when I first heard him play for me. So, really, I'm just a picky-ass.

22. Yeah, I don't Know If There Is A Studio Version There
I've not been able to find it

I felt lucky to find what I find there from the Decemberists.

You can find the vids that are commercial for some of their songs, but not every song gets one of those.

They are an interesting band.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7fzUGR8ZH4

there most popular recent song

it's "anti american" supposedly, maybe it is

His voice reminds me of someone, but I can't figure out who yet.

It's sounds more anti-media. "and the media goes la-di-da-di-da".

28. it is that too...
Sixteen military wives
Thirty-two softly focused, brightly-colored eyes
Staring at the natural tan
Of thirty-two gently clenching, wrinkled little hands

Seventeen company men
Out of which only twelve will make it back again
Sergeant sends a letter to five military wives
His tears drip down from ten little eyes

Cheer them on to their rivals
Cause America can
And America can't say no
And America does
If America says it's so
It's so
And the anchorperson on t.v.
Goes la-di-da-di-da

Fifteen celebrity minds
Leading their fifteen sordid, wretched, checkered lives
Will they find their solution in time?
Using fifteen pristine moderate liberal minds

Eighteen academy chairs
Out of which only seven really even care
Doling out a garland to five celebrity minds
They're humbly taken by surprise

Cheer them on to their rivals
Cause America can
And America can't say no
And America does
If America says it's so
It's so
And the anchorperson on t.v.
Goes la-di-da-di-da-didi-didi-da
La-di-da-di-da-didi-didi-da

Fourteen cannibal kings
Wondering blithely what the dinner bell will bring
Fifteen celebrity minds
Served in a leafy bed of sixteen military wives

Cheer them on to their rivals
Cause America can
And America can't say no
And America does
If America says it's so
It's so
And the anchorperson on t.v.
Goes la-di-da-di-da-didi-didi-da
La-di-da-di-da-didi-didi-da

I don't really like the venue they're playing at (it's the Henry Fonda, a little rat hole bar / concert venue across the street from the Pantages Theater in Hollywood), but still, Return To Cookie Mountain was one of my favorites last year, and I really want to see them.

12. Crucify - Tori Amos

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1q9ai60txQ

Every finger in the room is pointing at me
I wanna spit in their faces then I get afraid of what that could bring
I got a bowling ball in my somach, I got a desert in my mouth
Figures that my courage would choose to sell out now

Ive been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
Ive been raising up my hands- drive another nail in
Just what God needs, one more victim

Why do we crucify ourselves
Everyday I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Everyday I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains

Got a kick for a dog, beggin for love
Gotta have my sufferingso that I can have my cross
I know a cat named easter, he says will you ever learn
Youre just an empty cage girl if you kill the bird

Ive been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
Ive been raising up my hands- drive another nail in
Got enough guilt to start my own religion

Why do we crucify ourselves
Everyday I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Everyday I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains

Please be
Save me
I cry

Looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
Ive been raising up my hands- drive another nail in
Where are those angels when you need them

Why do we crucify ourselves
Everyday I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Everyday I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains

32. Here's one for the lounge losers...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iImeqfm50xw

BAD ASS
I was the runt of the litter
I was the weakling
I was the last to discover
I was the ugly duckling

We're all the same on the inside
But we're always up against everybody's outside
And it's hard to live up to stranger's
beautiful colors
Some people always finish last
Still I ended up a Bad Ass

I was never on the team
I could never seem to click
But in the end I guess
I just wasn't into it

We're all the same on the inside
But we're always up against everybody's outside
And it's hard to live up to stranger's
beautiful colors
Some people always finish last
Still I ended up a Bad Ass

The best I advice I ever got was
don't be somebody you're not
And it's hard to measure up
But I think that I'm enough

We're all the same on the inside
But we're always up against everybody's outside
And it's hard to live up to stranger's
beautiful colors
Some people always finish last
Still I ended up a Bad Ass

This ain't a scene
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nshjjZT7Ws&mode=related&search=

I am an arms dealer.
Fitting you with weapons in the form of words
And don't really care, which side wins
As long as the room keeps singing
That's just the business I'm in

This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
I'm not a shoulder to cry on, but I digress

I'm a leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate
I'm a leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate

I wrote the gospel of giving up
(You look pretty sinking)
But the real bombshells have already sunk
(Pre-Madonnas of the gutter)
At night we're painting your trash gold while you sleep
Crashing not like hips or cars
No, more like p-p-p-parties

This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race

Bandwagon's full. Please, catch another

I'm a leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate
I'm a leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate

All the boys who the dance floor didn't love
And all the girls whose hips couldn't move fast enough
Sing until your lungs give out

This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
(Now you)
This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
(Wear out the groove)
This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
(Sing out loud)
This ain't a scene, it’s a god damn arms race
(Oh, oh)
This ain't a scene, it's a god damn arms race

I'm a leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate
I'm a leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate
